Hi,
I just wanted to ask if using BD Glide 4mm needles with Novopen 4 is okay. Lots of people have told me to start using 4mm needles instead of the 6mm Novofine needles but I couldn't find 4mm Novofine needles anywhere here in India so I decided to use my Lantus BD Glide 4mm needles with my Novopen and I noticed that a couple of drops leak from the needle after I have taken it out. My sugars are going out of control too(though that might be my irregular eating and exercising schedule). What should I do?

It's quite common to see some insulin residue on the needle when you withdraw it from the skin so don't worry about that. I've not heard of the BD Glide needles put if it fits on the end of the Novopen then it should be fine, the BD needles are designed to fit most makes of pens including the NovoPen range.

If your bg levels don't improve just switch back to using the 6mm needles and see how you get on, if matters do improve then you know the 4mm needles are not for you.

Thank you for replying. I asked cause I didn't see any drop with the 6mm novofine needles.

Right, tbh if you were happier using the 6mm needles just continue using them, that's what I would do anyway.

My arms and thighs have swollen up significantly and currently aren't accepting insulin so my doctor advised me to try the less penetrating 4mm needle just to see if the swelling is because of the needles. I got another Novopen today. I'll see if that shows the same signs
