I work 13hrs on my feet, i used to sit around 8mmols after work but over last month sugar has went to 18mmols after food n still up at 16mmol 3 to 4 hours laterWhat sort of work do you do? Is it physical? Stressful? There could be many reasons for that high number.
What are you normally when you return from night shift, and what sort of numbers do you see before and after food?
Ye thats whats confusing tho i didnt eat anything lolOh dear, that is a worry for you.
Are you following any particular diet regime? Low carb for example, and are you keeping a food diary and recording your levels alongside? Doing that is an excellent way of discovering which foods are causing the problems so you can eliminate or reduce some of the carbs. It is carbohydrate that raises blood sugar levels, particularly potatoes, rice, pasta, bread and breakfast cereals.

Whats puer tea? When I was first diagnosed, that was what I experienced. Nothing seems to bring it down...
But after I took some strong raw puer tea and started low carbs things immediately improved.
If im honest i find the low carb difficult its in most things lol as i live alone i do eat processed food as dont see point cooking from scratch just for me lolNot eating anything and then doing a 13 hour shift when you are on your feet the whole time, plus any stress, may have caused your liver to dump glucose in your blood stream to keep you going. This is usually most common when you first get up and start the day, but also happens at other times, and is a natural occurrence. Your liver probably thought you had insufficient energy so tried to help you out.

If you very active and don't eat for long periods, chances are your liver will react as if the body is in danger and release glucose. I go through this myself from time to time on busy shifts.Came home from nightshift having had nothing to eat except a yoghurt at 18.30 before work last nighy and bm 14.8mmol, i know its not healthy to not eat but id expect a lot lower a bg arh! Have read new potatoes are the best way to eat potatoes if you have to have them![]()
Yes, they are. Also, strangely, home made chips! Or at least they work for me, but only 6 or 7. However, only testing with a meter can confirm if they are OK or not. Mash and jackets are the baddies.
