2017/2018 Football Season

We've just been spanked 5-0 at home against Celtic. We are a total mess. It could have been 10. Our chairman has a lot to answer for, we are going to be out of the Premier league for a very long time unless someone buys the club and invests.

One of the friendlier London clubs, pity you are so close to Heathrow airport and have to go on the London car park! (M25!) to get there!

Welcome to our footie thread!

That's not good!
Any possibility that this is just a preseason blip and not a true test of your players ability.
I do think that you need to arrest the slump. Been there and it can get out of control.

Funny, tho, I thought Celtics so far have been poor!

It's just carried on from last season. I will only get worse if the players don't put the effort in amd start playing as a team.

Celtic were comfortable, any team given the time and space that we gave Celtic today will punish you.

A long trip
They struggled last season
I can't get my head around York City playing in Conf North football this season
I know!
At least they will play Stockport!
We could have drifted down quite easily!
I've kept up with the level of players the national league clubs have signed, and I think Torquay will have a better season.
Other than us, I believe Orient, Aldershot and Barrow, are our main opposition this season. There will also be clubs like Eastleigh, Sutton and Dover. Look out for Maidenhead, they could be a surprise package.
Your near neighbours AFC Fylde, managed by ex Rovers player Dave Challinor (long throw) as an outside bet for the playoffs.

Septic peg (mystic meg) I believe her job is safe!
I never get it right!

We are favourites and going to smash the league to bits!

How's that for a prediction?

I think a bit of arsenal kicking will benefit your preseason!

I'd like to see Tranmere + Barrow/Hartlepool come up and give L2 a more northern feel

I'm saying that because I think we won't do as well this season and will be mid to lower half of the table

Play offs certainly! For sure!

There is a lot of teams struggling to keep their heads above water at the moment.
You never can tell.
Maybe Lincoln and FGR could spring a surprise!

Barrow would be better off waiting for their new ground before promotion but their chairman is keen on a better future.
Think the monkey hangars will have a season to regroup and turn the tide after relegation.

Personally, I think a north/south division is a good idea.
Maybe incorporate L2 & National league into north/south split.
The bill for traveling is getting too expensive for all the overnighters!

But, I can't see it happening.
Why, you ask?
The argument is, that either the north or south will start a wage war and one or other wouldn't afford promotion, It apparently happened in the old divisions of three and four in the fifties. The south had a monopoly of better players and the northern clubs mostly found it was difficult to compete for players when promoted.

Well the big day looms for those in Championship and lower leagues:)
As for us we are in Austria this week for our games tomorrow night and Friday night. Stuttgart tomorrow and Torino Friday night. Be a nice away week for some of our fans. Lets hope we wont disappoint them. UTT

Got my matchday ticket for Saturday
Fine weather please and let's hand out a thrashing to Swindon Town
