Why do i get bruises when i inject

Hi to all,

Why do i get bruises when i inject insulin on my stomach?

They are quite big i am only injecting 6 units as advised by diabetes nurse.

I have had the same issues and have been told to spread the injection sites around

The diabetes specialist also said sometimes when I get the bruising the area can get difficult for insulin to circulate


Been told buttocks and top of legs OK and to use both sides

I get the same.. I am slim and don't have much body fat so sometimes the injection will enter muscle which can cause bleeding and bruising especially on my legs. Are you using a 4mm needle.. if not using a smaller needle may help.. I also basal in my legs and buttocks and bolus to stomach to reduce injections to the stomach

Why do i get bruises when i inject insulin on my stomach?

The bruising is due to the needle breaking one of capillary's, it does happen unfortunately but it is nothing to worry about.
