Hi, I have had type 2 diabetes for quite a few years now and it was successfully controlled with Metformin. My "on rising" readings were always between 5 and 8. Then I had a medical problem, an internal bleed from the oesophagus (sp?)exactly one year ago.
This caused serious problems with my kidneys and liver. Recently my kidney function fell sharply to below the magic figure of 30 and I was immediately taken off Metformin and put on a low dose of Gliclazide, 2 x 40mg morning and 1 x 40 in the evening.
My Bg reading shot up to the 30's and then eventually settled at a reading of aroung 16 to 18 on rising.
It was then decided to double the Gliclazide to 2 x 80mg in the morning and 1 x 80mg in the evening.
Since then (friday) my Bg is in the upper 20s with a "on rising" reading of 18 to 26 !! This has come with an increasing number of visits to the toilet to pee - nearly 1 visit per hour.
To me it seems that an increase in doseage has led to an increase in Bg.
How long should I wait before contacting the doctors surgery do you think. Is this going to settle down? It is worrying me quite a bit to be honest
Thanks
