Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
Hello

If you are Not diabetic is it normal to have sometimes higher bloodsugar 2 hours after 1 meal. Like 10 because you eat cake? So do healthy people have That.

And if you eat a meal and you want to see wich food maken you spike can you test this each 30 minutes. Or Will this Always be high after 30 minutes and then go down?

I want to know this because I might have they told me I am insulin resistance no prediabets. And I want to see what spikes I have. Most meals are Always below 7.8

So I was thinking should I test 30 minutes and then again 30 to see if some food does spike earlier.

I Just don t now why my insulin was high but bloodglucose seems Always normal.

My understanding is that a normal non-diabetic reaction to anything should be below 7.8 as the body manages to get release enough insulin to safely tuck away the excess glucose - however I don't believe there have been many studies done on this. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone's spike levels were slightly different

A good way to test is right before you take the first bite, 1 hour after and then 2 hours after. That will give you a good view of the spike and how quickly you go back down.

The last part I dont understand can you give me an example how to interpreted the results.

So maybe I have 15 after 1 hour and 7 after 2 hours. So what is the conslusion? Or can you not go That high after 1 hour.

I did read healthy people can have high bloodsugar after eating without have diabetis at all. That I can happen. But I am not sure.

Hai

I do not have diabetis but did got a 9.6 after a meal? How do you explain That?

I did read the site jut still don t get it. After 1 hour if you test. What is normal?
And I see it says after 2 hours 6 but That is very low?

You said "they have told me I am insulin resistant". May I ask who told you that, please?

If your blood glucose level is 10 2 hours after a meal, you likely have type 2 diabetes.

It may depend on what you have eaten, whether you had a snack before you had a meal or whether you had alcohol with the meal. There are many variables.

If you got 15 after one hour, for me (a diabetic) I would probably have eaten something sugary or high in carbohydrate. If I were non-diabetic and got those numbers I would probably go to my GP to get a test to see if I had diabetes - 15 is very high and most people would not go above 7.8 regardless of what they ate.

I'm afraid I don't know if non-diabetic people can have high blood sugar after eating - I imagine there are lots of variables and things that could affect it. Either way I would see a doctor.

But if you test on this schedule and get these results:

Before meal: 5
1 hour after: 15
2 hours after: 7

You can see that whatever you ate caused your blood sugar to spike a lot, and then start to come down slowly. 2 hours after you are still not back to normal, but you're close. You can see this on this graph:

Note that in this graph they are using American measurements for blood sugar, but you get the idea?

That is an alternative doctor. Testing fasting insulin. Wich was a little high not much. It must be below 8 I was at 16.

It was not a endocrinologist or a gp!

I do not have at all type 2 diabetis!

My morning is Always 5.5 or below. My hbac1 is 31 wich is good. So how do you explain type 2 diabetis I dont understand this? When my endocrinologist did see me he said I had perfect bloodsugar do not test.

Yes so I did eat a meal with Bread and I did ate like a cake sugar thing as dessert.

So tjat was my question if you are Not diabetic and you eat sometimes sugar stuff. Is it normal to have this?

Independent of what they eat, the blood sugars of truly normal people are:

Under 120 mg/dl (6.6 mmol/L) one or two hours after a meal.

Most normal people are under 100 mg/dl (5.5 mmol/L) two hours after eating.

That is truly confusing. I thought 7.8 after 2 hours?

But you say 6.6 -1 hour or 2. En 5.5 .....2 hours?

So if That is correct. How do I now if I have diabetis? Because I was tested and I do not have it. Also my husband did test with me he is slim and has not diabetis. Me has not That low sugar? We eat Pretty healthy much veggies so fake food.
Are those reading maybe for people That use insulin?

Alexmagd.

I never did have 15 after eating it was Just an example.

So I the bloodsugar goes dubbel its not good .
Actualy I am confused now. Because I see That here they use very low bloodsugar after 1 hour and 2. So I don t know what is okay now.

If your doctor says you haven't got diabetes you most likely haven't got it. You can't test for it yourself and we can't diagnose you.

7.8 is a target for people with type 2 diabetes

5.5 are results of people with no diabetes, no insulin resistance and no prediabetes and therefore no medication.

Hai

I did call my doctor. And they will not do test like That with good fasting glucose and hbca1.

They say I can not have diabetis. So I don t now how this information is so different.

Alison campbell I do read every site it must be 7.8 for also healthy people. Not Just diabetic. Did was what my doctor conformed.

Does anybody knows why this different answers by site s and doctors
I mean you do or you don t have diabetis.

This test shows you have too much insulin circulating in your system. This is caused usually by insulin resistance, and also makes insulin resistance worse .... a vicious circle. It does not mean you have diabetes.

The way to reduce high insulin levels is to eat less foods that cause insulin to be produced. That means less carbohydrate. The less carbs you eat, the less insulin will be produced, and the better your insulin resistance will become. If you seriously reduce foods such as rice, pasta, bread, potatoes, cereals, flour and fruit you should see an improvement.

EDIT. I should have added that fasting also helps a lot. Just eat either one or two meals a day - skipping the others. This gives your pancreas a long rest between meals with very little insulin production needed.
