Had a call from them yesterday to book me am appointment for today at 14:50 for a yearly check up, I wonder if this is because I missed my last appointment due to over sleeping.
Will let you know how I get on later

Jim....

You will be on the surgery system for test reminders at the appropriate time. I get a letter.

Try not to miss this one or they may cross you off their system. :)

I had my bloods checked this morning and BP and weight checked by DN though I had to go in and make the appointment my self as they never send out reminders at my doctors surgery.

They don't send reminders at my GP surgery too. I should have had 12 month HbA1c in September. When I saw the nurse in April she told me I would be sent an appointment for annual blood test at local clinic when it was due at beginning of September.
When I didn't receive anything I went in at beginning of October and told receptionist that i had been told I would be sent appointment, she asked who told me that. Eventually she gave me the reference to clinic for the blood test.
I have got the result online, but it only gives my HbA1c result. No thyroxene, cholesterol or any other figures. I think she only requested the HbA1c figure. I will be seeing GP next week and will probably have to ask for another blood test for the other figures.

What a waste of money. Hardly a cost effective way of managing matters. :banghead:

I get the full lot, whether I want them or not, and if I ask for extras, as I did last year, I get them. I also get a letter telling me to make the appointment with the Health Care Assistant, who also does the weight, BP and so forth. This is twice a year, but I only see the proper DN once a year.

Im under the hospital for my diabetes, on annual reviews as hba1c is consistently in low 40s. Every year however the gp surgey contact me to say " you havnt had your diabetes checked, you need an annual review" I politely point out that I have had it done, usually a month or so earlier at secondary care level and know theyve had a letter informing them of the outcome as I have a copy
Most years we go through a farcical circular conversation where the gp says I need them doing at primary care level too, I ask why and she replies because its very important, I ask why and she says because theres a yellow flag next to the test, I ask what a yellow flag means and she says it means its very important! The conversation usually ends when I pose the questio as to whether a yellow flag means its assosciated with an incentive payment! (I know from my time working in the NHS that that is what it means)

I had a reminder last week but when I tried to book an appt there are no DN appts until at least beginning of Dec and I was told to ring in 2-3 weeks time as you can’t book an appt more than 8 weeks in advance! Good job I test so at least I have a rough idea of what my BS is doing!!!

Just had first even follow-up appointment with DN. Amazed at how much effort it took to book an appointment for five weeks later. Spoke to DN end of August, told to come back second week in October. Went straight to reception to be told diary not open, call next day. Over next 2 weeks rang 3 times and finally got booking for yesterday. Start of month got a letter saying they had to cancel it and I needed to update contact info (which I've tried to do 3 times recently). Was able to book for today but was half expecting to turn up and find out it wasn't booked.

Unfortunately I’m going on holiday Friday so will not be able to ring for a while. To make matters worse they won’t give you an appt for a blood test until you have one for the DN.

I've been fortunate in that DN has given me a letter for blood test well in advance, got one today for 3 months time.

On the other hand my practice in general seems overloaded or really inefficient. Received a letter today about flu jab, offering three sessions, yesterday, last tuesday or next tuesday. Doctor also has a habit of spreading things out, asked for repeat prescription for metformin/ramipril. Got prescription for 1 week work and told needed blood tests for monitoring. Got blood tests and requested another prescription. Told need to come back up for blood pressure tests.

I called into surgery this morning and spoke to a different receptionist. She said my other results weren't online because the GP hadn't checked and cleared them, but they should be online soon.

That stinks, it really does.
