bipolar and type 2

Glad you didn't test .... most pleasing thing (if there is one) is you didn't buy the chocolates for yourself

You've made big inroads into your BG levels so great work on that front
Thank you.

We are here for you.

Have you had an upset tummy lately for your tablets may have not worked so well?
Missed a tablet, maybe?

You aren't to blame for this bleep. After some good sleep, I hope you start feeling in more control.
See you in fbg thread?
Looking forward to your next post hun.

I always take my meds regularly and have no upset tum. I am one of those people who can eat out of date good and doesn"t affect me

with everything you manage each and every day this is one small tiny weenie loss, you will kick its £$£"!£ tomorrow, keep going, your doing great

For a couple of weeks, I have felt my mood rapidly going down hill. Today, wham, full blown manic phase. All day I have been eating non stop.
I had bought my mum a large box of black magic chocolates for Christmas, I have demolished the whole bix in one go. I can,t efen stand dark chocolate.
I dread to think what my bs levels have been today as am too scared to test.
Normally I am pretty level headed with my eating when I get like this, but today has to be the worst

Hi Ally1,

If youi are taking bipolar medications, e.g. lithium steadily, you should not have interactions with diabetes. BTW I have read some medical journals and books which indicate the possibility of diabetes being cause by bipolar drugs taken chronically.

Luckily I have never taken lithium and hoping I never will.
My psych is in agreement that bipolar meds are notorious for for a greater risk of type2 and if already type2, can have a effect on bs numbers.
Luckily my psych is well informed on drugs and I only take what he calls, a maintenance dose. Overall I am happy with this except they make me hungry and also when I am manic, being on a low dose, a low dose doesn,t really help. We will both work together to try and over come this

Depression and Bi polar so like this. I suffer with depression and you can bet on a **** day i will eat things i ought not too. I also don't keep any sweets etc in the house for anyone as temptation is too great. I wont be buying any choc for hubby until xmas eve!! Don't beat yourself up...hang in there as your mood will pick up xx

Hi @ally1 First off I have to say that I admire your honesty and willingness to admit your vulnerabilities on this forum. I think there are a lot of us, myself included, that would think twice before acknowledging to anyone, let alone a forum like this that we had such a tough day. Cudos to you for not only acknowledging your off day, but for also seeking help/comfort/encouragement on the forum. You certainly have a lot on your life journey to deal with and I think you are a winner! Blessings/L

Thank you.
It took guts for me to say about my bad day.
I also posted because it helps say how bad I was.
I do think that any kind of mental illness can affect anyone in many ways.
I used to be ashamed to say I have bipolar.
There must be many members here who have some kind of mental illness and can feel ashamed of it.
I have it, so what but I am still a human being.
