Hello , I am new to the site , first time post. I have been type 2 diabetic for the last 10 years. I have recently had a bad cold and ended up with an infection in the lungs. My doctor asked if my levels were ok, which they were. On checking them now first thing in the morning they are anything between 8.2 and 9.6 after fasting, is this normal or could the antibiotics I've had be causing this.
 
In my experience when my body is fighting a infection my BG is raised.
Morning BG is the first to rise and the last to come down for me, when fighting an infection

Sympathies with you I've been not well for last week not sleeping and just found out at doctors I don't have an infection it's bronchitis and my BG is usually 5-6s went to 10.4 last night and been informed by lovely people on here it can happen when we are not well,so don't fret too much I'm sure when we are no longer on meds and feeling better we will see our BG go back down. Wish you well and welcome to this site best thing I've ever found so much help and advice from lovely people on here hope your soon well! K

Hello there, and welcome to the forum.

Do you know what your usual morning reading would be?

For me, those numbers are a bit high, but if you've ended up on antibiotics, then the underlying infection could have nudged your levels up a bit. Many people find that happens when they're unwell.

Hope you feel better soon, my blood glucose levels are high just had an abscess on my finger.
Monitor your BM's frequently and keep a record. I usually do mine pre meals and 2 hours post meals.
Visit your GP if they stay high after your infection has cleared.
