I agree with you. Thanks a lot.Inhaling nicotine is dangerous for non diabetic people as well.
Do not start smoking or use nicotine products ever.
Yes, it's dangerous for everyone and as a diabetic you are already at a higher risk for other conditions so why add to it by smoking? Is it ok if diabetes type 1 smokes sometimes.......is smoking dangerous for diabetics....![]()
I got it , thanks a lot.........I hope my son will never smoke.........I found a lighter on his table and was worried, since I could not ask him, I asked here in forum. I got my answer............thanks to all of you.Have a look at what it says on this page: http://www.diabeticretinopathy.org.uk/prevention/smoking_and_diabetes.htm
"Smoking triples-quadruples the damage to the body caused by diabetes by causing hardening of the arteries. This particularly affects the body's larger arteries to the legs and brain, making amputation and strokes more likely. "
"Smoking triples-quadruples the retinopathy progression rate of diabetic complications"
Also what this article says: http://www.bmj.com/content/360/bmj.k167
" Just one cigarette a day seriously elevates cardiovascular risk"People with diabetes are at higher risk of cardiovascular events than the general population anyway so not smoking is even more important for them.
"Only total cessation will protect people and populations from tobacco’s toxic legacy"
I got the point.......thank you very much.cant say more than darkhorse says. mate if your smoking please stop, no matter how well controlled you are will save you from the harm it will cause.
yes.........specially if your son is not sharing anything with you and does not like parents giving advice.....But I will directly or indirectly tell him about this........I am not even sure.......may be he is not smoking........I will tell him, even if he will look at me with big eyes...I wish you well in your discussions with your son. Advising family members to stop smoking is not an easy task.
