hi
ive been trying to figure which thing is raising my blood sugar
i normally drink coffee with heavy cream and stevia
but it seemed to raise my bs
so i switched to decaf coffee with the heavy cream and stevia
but it went from 5.6 to 7.1 within the hour
then tried mint tea with the same heavy cream and stevia
and went from 5.5 to 6.1

which thing is likely the culprit?
it seems to keep happening
the stevia or heavy cream?
ive read that neither affect bs?

Hi cdpm,
The only thing your comparing here is the effects coffee, decaf and mint tea have as you have not changed the cream or stevia in any of the drinks. :meh:

I assume you talking about in the morning, if that is the case it may be none of the above it could be your body's response to waking up "dawn phenomenon" which often cause bg levels to rise.

So to see how there all effecting you, you need to test each combination. :bookworm:
  • Black coffee no sweetener.
  • Black coffee with sweetner
  • Coffee and cream no sweetener
  • Coffee and cream with sweetner
Rinse and repeat with decaf and mint tea.

As for testing cream is easy just have a spoon full of cream and see if that has any effect, by itself.
I love my black coffee so I have a spoon full of cream in the morning as well, there's no point ruining a perfectly good cup of coffee. ;)
:bag:

Stevia affects some people, I'm afraid. Why not test after leaving that out? Xylitol or erythritol might be better for you?
