I have been diagnosed with Type 2 since 2004 and have managed quite nicely since then although I am now on Humulin injections twice daily apart from Metformin. Within the last 2 months I've started to have a horrible itch all over my face, ears and eyelids, so bad that I could literally rip the skin of my face. It is like being wrapped in fibreglass it's so bad. I've tried cold flannels and cooling sprays but nothing seems to help. It disappears within 3 hours but those 3 hours are absolute hell. I read last week in the paper of a lady who had terrible itching and it was found that her vitamin B12 levels were low, so last week I had a blood test to check. Unfortunately my results wont come back until next week (with it being Easter!!!) I was wondering if anyone else has had this and what they did to relieve this. I don't have a rash or red face but the skin does feel hot.

I'm type 2 no meds. I currently have extremely low levels of vitamin B12 but no itching. Sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to something.

It sounds like it could be the early stages of Shingles? However I could be totally wrong as we arent allowed to diagnose on this forum. Well I'm no Dr either but your symptoms ring a bell. Have you see a GP?
