Hi folks,

So I purchased the Codefree kit which is significantly cheaper than my GlucoRx monitor... however the readings are quite different even from the same sample.

Question is which one should I trust ... I prefer the numbers of the GlucoRx which are lower

As an example, I had a 5.5 vs 6.8

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

Unless you are in danger of a hypo - believe the scarier ones and you stand a better chance of a good HbA1c.

I like you, have both GlucoRx and Codefree devices I retest really anomylous results with both. On occaisions they agree spot on.

I would keep the one with the cheaper strips and put the other away for use in emergencies. Using 2 different ones can only lead to confusion.

Either one may be right, and you have no idea which. Or they may both be wrong, and you still won't know.

Sadly, meters are not as accurate as we would like, and are only required to be within plus or minus 15% of the true level. Unless you need to test for calculating insulin requirements, you are only looking for trends so stick to one is my advice.

To most it’s the question off cost the strips are cheaper with code free the meter itself at least to me is approximately + 0.5 difference on average according to hba1c but it’s down to individual choices

Cheers Bamba, I’m not on medication as yet with 3 months to see if lifestyle changes will help. Hope you’re controlling things well

Sound advice, thanks - as a newbie think I’m over paranoid right now
