What Goes Around, Comes Around

Our new office manager who just started a few days ago had found out from a colleague that I am diabetic and was taking daily insulin injections last year.

Her comments about me were very hurtful...

“Oh dear, he’s got a dreadful, chronic illness. He’s going to end up in the hospital...ambulance all the time, yuk!!!”

I just ignored her comments and kept quiet but with a very heavy heart!

Anyway I found out this morning she was sacked from her job and was escorted out of the office for reasons I do not know and don’t really want to know.

Good riddance!

Good riddance indeed Andrew, a mean mouth and a mean spirit.

Stay away from evil people Jayne.

We don’t need them at all!
No we certainly don’t, there is enough tradegy in the world that we have no control over. I like to think I have good people and good things in my life, I am often told “ you are always so happy and smiley” it costs nothing to smile and be polite and I’ve always thought that smiling is very infectious

How ridiculous. Even very badly controlled diabetics don't "end up in hospital all the time". Who cares what she thinks anyway!!

Unfortunately there are those who are born judgmental and have no sympathy for people like us with a medical condition.

Some people can be very cruel and evil, so sad.

I would have responded to her comments and tried to educate her! Being ignorant/misinformed about T2 doesn't mean she deserves to lose her job...... The media get it wrong all the time.

I don't need other people's sympathy. I wouldn't consider her to be cruel, evil or sad - just lacking in tact maybe. Have you never made an unfortunate comment?

She was horrible to everyone in the office and that was probably the reason she got kicked out.

Very sad!

And when they get a problem they remember how cruel they were and torment themselves into thinking we are all the same. Nope!

We tend to judge others by how we behave if we were in their shoes. It sounds as if there was the suspicion of gross misconduct if she was suddenly escorted out of the building. Whatever it was, it is definitely best to keep your head down and to focus on doing your job, le the managers sort themselves out.

Hi @NewTD2 ,

Did you hear these comments directly from the manager?

I heard it while she was speaking with a colleague
To clarify.

You overheard your manager (ex manager.) say, “Oh dear, he’s got a dreadful, chronic illness. He’s going to end up in the hospital all the time, yuk!!!” To another workmate..? referencing you.?

Yes I heard everything very clearly and accurately

OK, thanks. I'm very sorry you were personally subjected to that.

I'm always wary of any third party, "they said XYZ about you" stuff.. Hence why i asked for a clarification on who the source was..? ;):)

Was it something she said? Definitely a candidate for Idiot of the Year! Sometimes you have to wonder how people reach positions of management when they think like that. Whatever she did or said, at least her management weren't going to tolerate it.
