Which cooking oil is best for diabetics who are willing to lose weight? I heard that coconut oil is better even than olive oil but coconut oil should not be used in meals regularly.

Just stay away from processed vegetable oils such as sunflower and corn.
Personally I use solid fats (butter, lard, duck and goose fat)

I agree with comments upthread. I use animal fats plus coconut oil in cooking and save the cold pressed olive oil for dressings. There are no vegetable oils, seed oils or soy bean oil in my home these days.

I also don't want to use vegetable oils and replace them with olive oil and coconut oil and butter but they are expensive to afford. But I will try to minimize using vegetable oil

In the UK lard is inexpensive and it is fine to cook with unless you are vegan or vegetarian of course.
Duck fat and Goose fat is very tasty but a little more expensive.

Lard is out if you don’t/can’t eat pig derived products, though.

Good point. As my diet has no religious dictates I often forget that others may adhere to tenets set down by their faith.

There's always beef tallow for those whose beleifs forbid pig products.

I’m vegetarian, so use butter (goat), olive oil, cold pressed rapeseed oil and coconut oil, depending on what I’m cooking and what flavour profile I want. Maybe a splash of sesame oil if it’s a stir fry.

That's good. But butter in Pakistan is very expensive. My nutritionist recommended me Lurpak brand of butter which is good for diet conscious people. Its 200g pack costs about $3 whereas vegetable oil is only $1.5 per litre.

Any butter will be better than veg oil though.. just use a little.

I've got coconut oil, and olive oil and of course butter.

I've also found that I'm not using oil at all where I used to. Most of my cooking these days is on one hob, with a non-stick pan what works well as a frying pan but you can also put a lid on it to help keep the moisture in. So I don't need to use anything to stop things sticking, and only add oil if there's a good reason. I don't use oil if e.g. I'm frying bacon and mushrooms for example. But if I'm doing scrambled egg the I do it on the hob and put a big knob of butter in, for the taste.
