Has anyone tried Echo for their repeat prescriptions yet? It looks too good to be true, and if something looks too good to be true, it usually is...

No, but there was a notice in our local pharmacy pointing out that if enough people use these prescription services the pharmacy will no longer be viable. The pharmacy provides advice as well as non prescription remedies. It would be a pity to lose that service because companies cherry pick the NHS prescription delivery.

My pharmacy use the MedAdvisor app.

They have my paper scripts on record at the pharmacy, and all I have to do is order the scripts plus repeats I need either to pick up the morning, or home delivered in the arvo.

I can also add non prescription over the counter stuff on the app as well.

In the UK, if my area is typical, patients request repeat prescriptions either on paper or electronically from the surgery. The prescription goes to a pharmacy electronically for collection by the patient. Recently services have been set up which bypass the pharmacy shops and deliver to your home. This all well and good until traditional pharmacies go out of business. There is a crisis in the high street stores in general in the UK at the moment due to online companies, in particular Amazon taking their business.

Every business blames Amazon, even here in Australia they are the boogermen to retailers.

I have two Amazon accounts Amazon UK and US, where I buy stuff that is not available in Australian stores for months / years or never in certain cases.

There are not many family owned type pharmacies left here in Australia, all chain store type pharmacies now.

My daughter is a buyer for a well known chain of stores. They have to check that the products they sell meet safety regulations, that they are not being made by child workers and fare wages and conditions are met, that factories are complying with environmental regulations etc. If there is only the likes of Amazon left will they do that? Typically people go to stores to choose expensive items, get advice from trained staff, try things out in expensive real estate and then buy cheaper online from someone with less overheads. Not exactly a level playing field.

Went to the pharmacy today for my repeat prescription it was due a few days back but gave them extra time despite having run out of three of my meds days ago. I still had to sit and wait for 20 to 30 minutes while they made it up and bagged it for me. On my way out I remember thinking I wonder if the Echo service would be any better so I also had hoped for some comments here but sadly it seems no one uses it. May be though that, that is comment enough. Or is is comment enough.

Okay, thanks, guys. Maybe I'll give it a go and let you know.
I gave MedAdvisor a go to see what it was like, and I have been happy to continue with it.

Sorry I cannot give a nod with Echo, but if it's like the service I use it's worth it. The app seems to have good reviews at the Playstore though.

Well, I've tried it, and it's rubbish.

First order went great, and I thought, this is the way forward. But the second and third orders were delayed due to supply problems. Both times they failed to notify me of the potential delay. Different items each time. Both times I had to have it recalled to the central database, so the a local pharmacy could dispense it. Both times, I asked the local pharmacy whether there had been any supply problems, both times they denied knowledge of any issues.

I complained via email but have heard nothing back. Considering the website proudly touts the fact that the founders live with chronic health conditions, I'd say this was pretty miserable.

My local pharmacy is for all it's faults, which are not that many, mostly reliable and as it is a five minute walk from my front door even for me. I think I will be sticking with it. Also when I walk in the pharmacist says hi John how are you to day I like that.
