For Emergency Queries Do We Need A Go-to Box ?

This was not the advice I was given.
I was told, if the person comes round, there is no need to contact emergency services.
They may feel woozy but if they are conscious it is not an emergency.

Having recently spent time in A&E, it is clear they are incredibly busy dealing with true emergencies making decisions which affect the patient immediately.

The ambulance call operators are trained to do this type of assessment and to give advice on putting people into the recovery prosittion etc. Telling someone to call 999 is a way to get quick expert advice to them, regardless off if advisor decides to send a ambulance.

I have seen posts on here where the poster has been asking a question about their condition not understanding the gravity of the situation they possibly are in when they are in fact in acute danger.

111 operators are trained to decide between sending an ambulance and getting a nurse or doctor to phone the person back. (Lots of doctors say that 111 is one of the reasons more people are going to A&E.)

Normal a doctor calling back in 20 minutes is what needed, but in this case I would want a person trained in first aid methods and how to explain them over the phone NOW. (Hence for high BG I would always say 111 not 999.)

So when you call 111 whose advising you the person your talking to or the computer algorithm thats telling them what to ask you..

When my mother became ill one night I called her GP the call took quite a while to get through only to be told by him that I should call 999 which I did.

She died just a few minutes before the ambulance arrived, I know I have said this before but I truly believe it's best not to delay call 999.

That's what my GP's surgery says on the phone while one hold waiting for someone to answer, If it's an emergency, hang up and dial 000.
