Hi, How long does a monitor last?
I have a contour ts monitor, I have had for a few years now, but recently noticed that I got:
7.53am fasting reading of 12.2
8.35am did a retest of 11.9
9.40am before breakfast of 17.5
9.52am retest and it shot up to 28.2
all before had anything to eat with only drinking plain water and a black coffee, no sugar.
I changed the battery thinking it might be that but it has happened a few more times now (different reading but big jumps within a minute of redoing the tests)
Do I need a new monitor?
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you got any control solution to test your meter? In the meantime could you pop into a chemist and get a spot check?

Another thought, have your test strips been kept out of the sun in this weather.

Hi, No don't have any solution (was given monitor by diabetic nurse in a pouch where it stays until use it) and have recently opened a new pack.

Hi Thanx for your reply yes, recently opened a new pot which is kept in the pouch they kit came in.[/QUOTE

just a thought but have you kept them in a cool dry place with lid firmly closed? my test strips shouldn't be stored above 32 degrees C, which it has been close to recently. If I had kept them in my handbag and been in car it would have gone way above the maximum temperature

When you contact Beyer, ask them to send you a bottle of control solution. They will send it free of charge.
