Are you using the jumbo oats for this colander based experiment @kev-w or just normal rolled oats? I found the jumbo ones had the best size consistency without filtering them for me.

Mine (the control sample :p) are 'Mornflake creamy superfast oats' only because @ 56g/100g carbs were the lowest carb option, Quaker & Scotts are 61g/100g and I'm finding oatbran to be around 47g/100.

:) You have deflated me somewhat there, as I'm thinking my scientific experiment could just been beaten by common sense :)

Writes jumbo oats on the shopping list too :p

:p I'm disappointed no-ones said quack :p

But no, it seems to have had an affect so I'll have an experiment over the next few weeks whilst looking for consistency. it's the powdered oats I'm looking at as I believe their carbs are simpler than the larger oats, and as there's a fair bit of powder in a jar of porridge, I maybe need smaller holes in my colander though.... (shuffles off like a duck, quacking happily as he goes :p )
QUACK !!! I wonder if the powdered oats will be higher GI and thus increase the rapidity and ? height of the glucose spike ??

My beauty sleep beckons. 11.30 pm here and it is absolutely bucketing down rain.
Slip slidin' off!
Night all, sweet dreams, may the DP pass you by ( and may the clothes I put on the line be rinsed cleaner than they have ever been before).
Thought: 2 right turns deserve a left, twice.

Just don’t say that word @kitedoc, needing rain here, even the fish in the pond are looking skywards

:arghh: Flying butt monkies are back as my Etch A Sketch says 13.9 and going up.

Really can't work out why as I have not eaten anything differnet from the last couple of days :grumpy:

Oh well, stuck a load of NovaRapid in.................Watch this space.........:wacky:

I shall perform a rain dance here (just as soon as it stops pouring )! My brother is a vet so I shall ask him what upward gaze in a fish means.
Fingers crossed and hope that chaos theory works in producing rain there.

If in doubt blame the weather. It usually does not answer back, emphasis on 'usually'.

It’s figurative. They’re cruising round the pond in a very happy hooligan teenage state: my Clockwork Orange fish.

Evening all.
Well I see we've had mention of PORRIDGE again:banghead::banghead::banghead:. @kev-w you really do need to change your user name.
Oatsman, Porridgeguy, Oats'r'us. :):):).
Also just a reminder, the phrase " common sense" isn't applicable when one has T1.
It's still **** hot but who cares. Got both the grandkids for a sleepover tonight. The house is already trashed:banghead:, ice creams are almost finished:hungry:, and they've only been here 10 minutes :wideyed:.
As for BS. Who cares.....the grandkids are here. Diabetes knows it can't compete with these two.
Time to put my " in my 30's head on" and start playing silly ******.

@therower - have the silliest of times with the kids! I mostly get ignored as my son is 15 ;)

<rant>
Just had a really abusive Facebook Message from a T1 in response to a comment I’d made on the story about the lass who’d won damages for having her lucozade taken from her at a gig. Bloke had said that he’s never ever had a hypo in 24 years at a concert so she was being ridiculous and I mildly (I always START mildly lol) that just because that’s his experience doesn’t mean it’s true for everyone. Mentioned that I’d once dropped from a steady six to the threes with no IOB at a gig in minutes and the abuse started - apparently I’m an embarrassment to diabetics everywhere, give T1s a bad name, have terrible management, and “are you hypo, hun?” HUN????:mad::mad: Anyone want to see the BG spike from that? :banghead:

A PM???? Well well that will never do tut tut tut tut.

Well ain't he the luck one, no hypo in 24 years going to concerts, Pft! Amateur.

Ignore him, he is just a keyboard warrior.

Hun? Now think I might use that, least I'm out of range :) :) :) :)
To misquote Liam Neeson, I really will hunt you down, find you, and kill you ;) And nick your Jaffa cakes (even though I’m allergic to them) and eat them in front of you :smug:

Absurd. I don't think I've ever had a hypo at one either, but I'd still take something with me just in case. Having nothing with you would be even more of an embarrassment to Type 1s. Not there is some sort of collective guilt, we are not responsible for each other's bad behaviour, any more than any other group is. o_O

It’s bizarre. I’d also said that I’d got glucogel in my bag, dealt with it quickly and easily, and never missed a beat. But apparently it’s terrible management to have allowed it to happen in the first place, I should run it into the 8s to be safe. At which point I thanked him for his immense wisdom, and blocked him. I must look like some silly, young flighty bint in all my profile pictures, instead of the middle aged hag I am in real life :p

@Mel dCP - Not worth boiling your blood over - sod that 'Mr Perfect' guy.

@Knikki I fancy a jaffa cake now. I like your style - just enough correction to merit a biscuit (or cake [or biscuit - not getting into that debate!]) in this instance.

Feeling distinctly like my Libre lied to me last night! Knew my sugar was coming down when I went to bed so set an alarm for 11.30pm to check again, it said 4.6 with an arrow straight down! Munched myself 2 biccies (8g carbs) and went back to sleep. Woke up at 5.40 at 9 having been around 9 all night according to the graph, and no sign of it ever going so low as 4.6. Hmph. Need to do more reading on this basal testing lark as I've been reducing my levemir- only had 2units today and actually had a better day for it. Off to the Google machine!
