@smc4761 - you’re going in the right direction. That’s a win as far as I can see. Give your legs a rest and maybe try a bum cheek? Sending a virtual hug xxx

Not given many injections in my bum before. Probably a good place to do it to be honest its so large there is plenty of surface area to choose from.

Problem I have found is on a normal injection you can see the needle penetrating the skin so you know insulin has gone in. With an injection to bottom you cant see if need has gone in. I would be worried needle has not gone in so no insulin

If you’re at home, you could try a full length mirror until you get the hang of it? No need to reach all the way around though, the bit of buttock you can see if you twist around might be enough to give your poor legs a rest.

To all who have offered support, please accept my sincere thanks. Feeling really deflated, whats the point all the effort and so little return. You guys however have helped me get things into perspective a little. Think I am trying to take big steps when maybe smaller one are required. Think its mainly the spikes that are getting me down, as the before meal BG are higher than I would like, but better than they were. That and the bloody dawn phenomenen

Thanks guys you are the best

Just back from clinic and to be honest feeling absolutely deflated. Still waiting on my Hb1Ac result but doc said looking at Libre figure, he reckons about 65. On the plus side that is down from 68, six months ago

however for past 6 months I have put in a huge amount of effort to have better control, more so than in previous 37 years. The problem is with the inconsistencies some days its Ok others it like a map of Himalayas on the Libre. He reckons that this could be done to injection sites being shot and he advised me not to use large areas of my legs for future injection sites.

I am he said, an ideal candidate for pump and he will put me on the list. But with our area only having 30 pumps for the forthcoming year. Dont know how many diabetics there are in our area but we have a population of around, 600 000. he reckons I could get one in about 2 years

I have gone fairly low carb, for 5 days of week don't eat, bread, potatoes, rice or pasta. Initially I lost 4kg but in past 2 months have put on 1kg

All the effort and pretty much diddly squat in return.:(

Feel like going back to my old bad habitats, bring on the carbs

Bless bless bless
As others have said even a little progress however small is welcome

I know it’s not where you want to be.

Take heart

Well turned up for my appointment and the nurse was unable to get a blood sample from my veins in either arm or back of my hand

I said not too worry as plenty others had also failed over the years

She booked me in to see the phlebotomist on the 26th September for round 2

Mid 4’s now... & unit of insulin still on board ‍♀️

Been up and down all day- second hypo this evening (this one could have been avoided). Draining after a loooong day.

Hope you are feeling better.

I have been like a yo-yo all day long but overall a lot better thank you

Hypos are evil poor you and you are right it is draining

Just stay safe I’m sure you know all about that so no lectures from me

Take care

Glad you are on the mend- take it easy.

I have tucked myself in bed. Going to catch up on Bake Off and count the carbs for each bake in my head lol- that will make me feel like better.

Beats writing lesson plans or risk assessments for next weeks residential with 28 9-year olds.... #eeek

Goodnight take care

The biggest failure I find with Etch A Sketch is its inability to calibrate with blood tests. Like this morning, bear in mind that this sensor is going to get changed tomorrow.

Woke up, Libre say 2.8,:arghh:

Xdrip/Miaomiao said 3.5 :shifty:

Bloods said 7.0 :wideyed:

So recalibrated Xdrip with the bloods and it now reads close to them. Etch A Sketch still way off :hilarious:

Seeing as the Libre Reader can also do Bloods you would think that it would only take a tweak of the system to add in a calibration.

Of well, first coffee of the day :jimlad:

ON a side note: 2nd week into Dulac and I am liking it, I have now ended up with nearly the same amount of Dulac as I was taking Lantus which I find odd as everyone, including DSN was saying "drop it by a couple of units it has more kick".......yet I find for, me it hasn't.....still never mind have found a sweet spot so all things ticky boo at the moment :)
However I might start tweaking so watch this space :chicken:
Please just watch for insulin on board/overlaps with such a long acting insulin !

Today I am officially giving up lol
7.7 this morning had my breakfast as usual. Checked my libre at 11 and I was on a 16.8. Did I forget my insuling, checked the Timesulin and that agreed that the lid was off at 7.10 am this morning. I then checked the units on my pen and that was still on 8 units. DOH!!!!! forgot to press the button :banghead::banghead::banghead:
We have all done it @porl69 , there is no court judging you. We are advised not to press others' buttons, but when we forget just the once every so often to press our own (on the insulin pen) well... To err is to be human. And banging one's head on a pillow is preferable to against a wall!!!
