Type 1'stars R Us

Morning all. Hope you slept well and are waking up bright eyed and bushy tailed!

Manky, ******, sleepless night here with high alarms going off every couple of hours, I suspect I’m coming down with something (or the abscess on my leg is doing something) - I’ve been wary of rage-bolusing and therefore overcorrecting as I’m away from home and have Stuff To Do, but :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Hey ho. Have corrected (again) and increased my basal by 20% so let’s see what happens. Probably a hypo...

Good morning y'all :) a waking 5.8 although I've a little red mark where I've dropped and come back up on the Libre screen, Jumbo oats for breakfast for a change and 0.5u less hoping to smooth out my morning.
I think my thermal t shirt's coming out of the drawers today as it feels quite autumnal this morning, bright enough just cold but I'm not complaining as it's getting nearer to spring :)

Morning- 6.9 on waking with a fast rise.

Correction before bed didn’t budge my levels at all. 3am alarm promoted another correction. Suspect this is due to the weather? Or could be back to work nerves?!

Have a good day everyone

I hope work goes well. I'm facing getting child back to school this morning. 6,6 waking for me.

I'm a serious plant eater, plus a few oats, and I don't do low carb. I've had type 1 diabetes for 42 years and never once had a background retinopathy letter, I suspect luck plays a part, but I'm als sure that's because I eat so much fruit and veg, because I like it. No way I'm going to stop now, it's been my best friend.
I luv the idea about being serious about eating plants.......... do you sometimes lol when doing it too :hilarious:I also have serious fruit envy @Alison54321 A few raspberries is all I eat now

Beams at the whole wide world. For this is half-term week and I'm still at home pondering the day rather than marching off to see what chaos is ensuing in my world of work. Happy return to work @CranberryIce and hope it's all OK.

Decided yesterday was the day to see if pizza was going to be an occasional treat again in my life after 3 years of having salads every time I went out with friends for a meal. As I also wanted a longish walk in the afternoon to shake off the fidgets I worked out if I did a 50/50 split, I'd take the second half after the walk or as much of it as needed.

The result of that experiment is in - a massive (for me) pizza of 107 carbs and three mini salted caramel profiteroles at 24 carbs on a 50% bolus is definitely back on the occasional meal out treat list as long as I do a 5 - 6 miles walk after it. I'd maybe start the walk a little earlier next time as I was high enough for the meter to mutter Ketones? at me, but not so high I felt ill. That walk dropped me 10 points and needed a couple of Detro for the last ten minutes but no second 50% bolus.

I'm a smidegeon higher than I like this morning, but even allowing for clock change I'm up late, so think Madame DP snuck in to see what I was up to still being in bed at 7.30 a.m. She normally doesn't get a look in unless I oversleep!

I could weep this morning for 2 reasons, we had a frost last night and madam BG strutted her ridiculous self 8. Manky madam!
Not a word you hear often @Mel dCP hope things sort themselves out

I really struggle at times to stay in range and find myself getting hung up on the Libre figures.

Take this morning for example woke on a 10.1 So took my carbs and normal dose plus correction, to bring me back to 6. About 2 hours later, Libre has me at 15.1:arghh::arghh::arghh: However by lunchtime some 5 hours later I am sitting where I should be with a 5.9. This is a regular occurrence particularly from breakfast until lunchtime. It will take a ridiculous drive northwards before coming back to what I want before lunch some 5 hours later.

If was just doing finger test I would think I was doing OK, the Libre just gives me that worrying data, am I doing something wrong

Your numbers are right 5 hours later. So the type of food is well matched with the insulin. Before the Libre it wouldn’t have bothered you. But now you can use that visual knowledge to fine tune. As you were high before breakfast pre blousing may be the answer. For me, in the mornings it meant pre blousing an awful lot longer than I would have dared pre Libre. In my case at least an hour, before I saw a downward trend. Some days 1hr 20mins! (Am about to try Fiasp to help cut the time down.)
I take it you are having to rush off to work, which makes things even harder. Your body may be pumping out extra cortisone to help with this, which in turn raises your levels. Some days you may have to rush more, hence different levels each day. Also, come Monday you may have been more active at the weekend, so the knock on affect will be lower the next day.
Unfortunately as you are well aware diabetes is not just what we eat. The Libre puts this into glorious technicolour, don’t be disheartened, keep experimenting with timing of insulin and I am sure you will see some results with those spikes.

Not sure about "feels quite" there was a brass monkey asking for directions to welder this morning.

Morning

All well, if cold over here. :)

Put an Medtrum A6 CGM on over the weekend.............................was reporting low, very low, for the first 18hrs or so, but after a couple or 3 calibrations it seems to be pretty spot on - just hope it can live past the 7 days and hopefully well beyond. I might have some sensible numbers to post by then! But I can say my fairly brisk and very cold bike ride dropped my BG quite nicely this morning.

I received a surprising letter from my DN this weekend. There were a number of reasons why it was surprising
- it is reference to a recent attendance to the "Pump Clinic" but I haven't been since March and don't have an appointment for another. It turned out to be an email exchange about Libre and Fiasp
- it seems to be the way to communicate to my GP to change my insulin to Fiasp. And, looking on line, they haven't done it. (Not sure why I am surprised by that.)
- my DN is clearly is disagreement with the CCG about the Libre policy "I appreciate this is very frustrating for Helen and we can only hope that in the future once the benefits of Libre are nationally recognised it will be more freely available."
- it was addressed to my GP who retired 2 years ago. However, I have no idea who replaced her so couldn't correct the DN.
- it has my last Hb1AC and the target. My target is 53 ... this does surprise me because it is much higher than what I am aiming for (and what my last test was). Some time ago, I was told 48 was too low but that was before the pump which should be reducing hypos.

At least she's trying.

WOW....shock to the system today. Everything is white.....frosty white
BGs were behaving last night/this morning. Went to the pictures to watch Bohemian Rhapsody last night.....popcorn/Tango fruitblast and a kitkat.....bloods were all good, just a small shot of bolus for the kitkat and popcorn. 7.6 going in and 8.1 coming out.....top film as well
This morning was a 6 :)
@helensaramay most of the DSNs are in disagreement with their local CCGs about the Libre

Thanks Becca for the reply. As you say without the Libre my BG reading with finger test were OK as far as I was concerned. My insulin matched by carbs some 5 hours later.

Generally this mainly affects my mornings and as you say, when I am off to work. I generally take my Novo rapid some 20 minutes before breakfast. Even at weekends, I take my Novorapid only about 20 mins before breakfast. Maybe have to start extending the time between Novo rapid and breakfast.

This morning was typical. Great BG last night a flat 5 ish all evening before a 5.6 before bed. My old friend Dawn Phenomenon saw me rise to 9.0 this morning on waking. 2 hours later my BG was up to 12.1. Just before lunch it was back to 6.9, which is just about where I had expected it to be with my correction

Good afternoon
I normally post early doors but I was that fed up this morning I couldn't.....
I weighed in with a 15 and it got me down...

I'm fine now as are my levels and therfore I've perked up so here I am.....loud and proud on radio blood sugar.

Meh.

I've hovered around 5mmols all day, well until I finished work and put the push bike in thee car to do an errand in town, 4.5 when I got there, a couple of Dextrotabs back up past 5 and I've scanned back at home at 3.5 with no iob, this is the drop that was getting me in the early hours till I moved the basal to the morning, I had 2 x 10g slices of wholemeal bread with a can of tuna for lunch too.

Which reminds me I cut my breakfast insulin for the jumbo oats the last time I tried them.... Duh :)

Had a straight line in the 5/6s for about 14 hours. **** a hoop! Especially as on hols. Decided to experiment with a pizza as a treat. Never usually bother. Now, why did I do that!! Been on a 14 for about an hour grrr...!despite 3 staggered doses! The devils food! Oh but it was delicious

Evening all! Been running high again today, but down to a respectable 5.4mmol. Quiet morning trawling charity shops for shirts to chop up to make a quilt and then drove to Warrington to meet an online friend who I met via our cats :cat:

Now back with the parental units for the evening, we’re roasting a whole salmon with a variety of low carb veggies for me and the usual for them. Although my stepdad has recently been diagnosed as pre-diabetic with a 44 HbA1c, so I’m teaching him the ways of low carb, as he’s had the low fat/high carb EatWell plate impressed upon him. Hopefully we can get our heads together and stop things from progressing. Mum’s into Atkins, so I’m hopeful.

I can't quite work today out, I'm low, well 4.4 but not coming up, at a guess I've drawn past my basal dose and had too much as this isn't right, on a lighter note those Breakaway biscuits are nice as I've eaten 3 of the little uns, I was going to have an early night but I think I'll hang on a while.
