One for you type 1s who have had an infection. Id love some advice/reassurance because having had a urinary track/kidney infection 2 weeks ago and needing 2 rounds of antibiotics to resolve it (boo hiss to antibiotics) I am STILL needing 20% more basal and double normal bolus doses to get my blood sugars approaching normal levels. Normally reasonably insulin sensitive e.g. carb to insulin ratio of 0.7 to 10g and a basal of 18 units so this is freaking me out.
My nurse has just said that I am temporarily insulin resistant and must test/bolus every 2 hours but I am terrified of a) gaining weight b) getting insulin resistant. She is only worried about ketones and bg levels.
I am back at work but feel exhausted and haven't picked up my usual gym routine. Eating less after having not eaten for a week or so just not sure what to do to get shot of the insulin resistance or whatever is causing it.
