Hello everyone,
I'm looking to become more active in the New Year and my local council sent an email about their modernised Go Active website. Brilliant, just my kettle of fish, trawling through and found this
Kickboxing (Not suitable for those with diabetes)
Can anyone explain why?

At a guess it is a high energy sport so, however wrote the article, probably thinks doing kickboxing is likely to make people hypo.

However doing the Google it seems there are diabetic fighters out there.

Either 'Elf n safety' or insurance costs.

I don't know about the kickboxing, but I do like the idea of trawling a kettle of fish.

Diabetics should, under no circumstances be allowed to do kickboxing.
Ask yourself a simple question.
How often during the course of a week does something diabetes related make you want to kick the s*** out of anything and everything?
You really think it’s a good idea to be trained and become an expert at undertaking such a innocuous pastime like kickboxing?:woot::woot::woot::woot:.

On second thoughts............................

Maybe they legally have to assume that all diabetics follow the Eat Well guide and will therefore be sick and weak? ;)

Did you think about asking them?

I'm wondering if it is a foot concern?

Do diabetics have more smelly feet?

Questions like that should be raised in parliament :pompous:
Depends on how long they have been wearing the correct anti-hypo socks.

My son-in-law was North West Kickboxing champion in his weight, but that was in his youth. It is a young person';s sport and very physical.

It is a young person';s sport
I did kickboxing for about 6 months, twice a week when I was 36. Not very old, I agree, but not very young either. I wasn't the youngest, and neither was I the fattest, although over 100 kilo's at 1,77 meters. I may have been among the clumsiest but it didn't matter, they all liked me for my enthousiasm and I'm certain they would have welcomed any 70 year old, even though my trainer trained very high level kick boxers as well.
