Tired of type 1

I’m 17 and type 1 for almost 3 years ,It’s my first time writing on here lol , I never really talk about diabetes to people as they don’t understand so I feel like there’s no point and I feel like if I try to explain my feelings about diabetes ,its just difficult cause there’s so much to say I can’t say it as weird as it sounds and I’m scared it just doesn’t make sense at all just like this paragraph

Very well said, and I think we can all relate to this.
I found my friends understand more of my feelings than I feared, but it's places like this forum where people really get what you say, even if you can't find the exact right words or when there simply aren't enough words in the world to convey your meaning.

@Pancreas problems . Welcome to the forum.
No one and I mean no one fully understands what living with T1 is like unless they are T1 themselves.
Strange as this may sound, but you have no need to explain any of your feelings to me. All I need to know is that you’re T1. Knowing this means I fully appreciate and understand everything you’re feeling.
Have a browse around the forum ( Type1 stars r us ) and you will find some great threads.
You’re not alone , there are a lot of us about. Many have years of experience and knowledge.
Have a chat with us.:)

Good Afternoon,

I am sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the moment. Like you, i have been diabetic for about 3 years.

We all have our bad days and weeks but the most important thing to remember is that you're not alone.

I always find speaking to a diabetic nurse or doctor when having doubts or worries usually helps.

Also speaking with this community will do you a world of good because they are great people.

All the best :)

Hello @Pancreas problems welcome to the forum.

Yep T1 can be a major PITA but after a while it becomes easier to understand and manage, but early on tricky :) most of us have gone through the same feelings.

Had similar rant at home about being fed up with this s***y condition, funny during a hypo, Ho hum.

There is lots of info around on this site and a whole Type 1 thread plus areas where people closer to your age and chat, unlike some of us old farts :hilarious::hilarious:

However any questions stuck them up and someone will be along to offer some help or advice.

Take care.

Hi @Pancreas problems
Feelings are tricky - we all get annoyed, frustrated, fed up and none of us ever get exactly what anyone else feels, but all of us in the diabetic club get that times can be bad.
Keep chatting- we understand the ups and downs.

Thankyou very much and I just feel like it might make me feel down talking to a nurse or doctor cause i feel like everything’s true and reality if I talk about it

Maybe talking to us helps. Doctors and nurses often are focused on solutions, and sometimes we only want our feelings acknowledged. We're pretty good at that here.
There's also the part of being 17. You're not me (and lucky you are :p ) but I very clearly remember that all feelings and emotions were way bigger than they are now (at 41). That has it's up sides, but it clearly has it's downsides as well. Oh, and there's nothing you can do about it, except waiting.
I love that your mom at least understands some of your feelings!

Being 17 and a type 1 isn't the best combo. I am 19 in a month so we are both same age and I totally understand what you are saying. Even the toughest diabetic is challenged by diabetes. My motto for diabetes is: "Patience is the key for all good things. Don't rush it." It is totally okay to take a break and sometimes just scream. The journey continues and if you find a good company, the journey is 17 thousand times better. My DMs are always open :)

@Pancreas problems, Hi and welcome ,so sorry to hear you are going through a tough time, it is difficult as times and very frustrating too, with everything that type 1 involves. You are just 17 and life can feel like an upward struggle, you probably just want to be like your mates, but have a look around the forum, we are here for each other for help, advice and support, with a moan or two thrown in.
Take good care x :)

It can't be easy being a teenager with T1. I would try to explain to others what diabetes and T1 is. I've found nearly everyone has listened to me and hopefully learnt something. I try not to bore them! Now when I'm in group with those people I can inject at the table or wherever and they accept it without a second glance. It becomes routine if a nuisance. When talking to others try to minimise how it makes you feel but what it meas in a practical sense which I think will help the way you do feel about it.

Welcome @Pancreas problems sorry you are feeling down. 17 is such a hard age anyway with plenty of other rubbish to deal with. As others have said keep posting and reading. Someone mentioned speaking to one of your health specialists. Consider it, I know you feel that by talking about diabetes it makes it more real. The thing is, accepting things although hard to begin with often makes things easier in the long run. Great you can talk to your mum. She will always listen I am sure.
