Hi everyone,
Am still experimenting with food and BG meter.
This morning had muesli 45g, with milk, cream and peanut butter 2 cups of tea. ( no sugar)
Usual exercises before breakfast, added a very small amount extra.
BG before breakfast was 5.7
2 hours and 3 mins later 4.7

Yesterday tested 2 hours after same breakfast and was only up 1 point, tested again about an hour later still rising.
Dont understand this at all.

Tested again one hour later still only 4.9

Very different result to yesterday with same breakfast . Confused

1.30 new pre lunch test, 6.1 now hesitating about eating my winter veg soup, have already scoffed the cheese to go with it though and had quarter slice of toast, binned the rest
busy with calculator and book working out carbs in soup

As pre diabetic we are just a bit different to a full t2.

We still have some, note some ability to deal with elevated blood sugar.

The fat in the cream and the fat and protein in the pb will blunt the spike. The museli may well break down slowly too.

Add some insulin effect too and you won't jump much. Makes it deceptive.

Trouble is as a pre you still want to keep the numbers low as after a week or two your bg will seem almost normal.

Beware its a false promise. If you eat sensibly your numbers will stay low.

The cream and peanut butter are added for that reason. Dont think I will eat this every day, maybe two, three times a week.
Better than having to cook every day. Often just dont want a cooked breakfast but need to keep up the calories, so skipping not a good option for me.
If I can find a way to include uncooked breakfast foods will make life so much easier.

Have you tried a full fat Greek yogurt with half a dozen or so raspberries thrown in, and maybe some cream, or followed up with a coffee and cream?

I love that, been eating similar for years, but in my quest for calories have changed yoghurt and berries to dessert, so need alternative breakfast foods...
