hi all for anyone that remembers me from my lost last week I need to ask some advice again please.

I’m keeping a log of my blood sugars since I cane out and according to a close friend I’m still to high in my readings noting under 10 and I have hit 14.2 just now noting quenches my thirst but it’s no where near where it was last week but certainly mite than I usually drink. The blood tests the hospital ran last week aren’t back yet and I only know one is a c peptide test. I’m seeing a dr on Tuesday morning one to see if results are back and two to see about reducing my carbs. I have also been told by friend that they might of got diagnosis wrong as I was told type 2 and could be type 1 I’m on 2000mg metformin mr and 8ui slow release insulin. What are the chances they could be wrong I have been progressively getting worse over the years disputes losing weight though not through the right means but coz my sugars are unstable. Diagnosed 2012/13

I have no advice for you, but I do hope you'll get the result soon. Hug!

@teddybear74 diabetics can be wrongly diagnosed as Type 2 and later found to be Type 1. It seems to usually happen when the person becomes diabetic when they are older. Doctors do sometimes seem to think that Type 1s become diabetic in childhood or as young adults, and that people who become diabetic later in life must be Type 2.
We can't say which type you are, but hopefully you will find out on Tuesday.

There's been a surprising number of threads where posters have reported that their docs have changed their minds and decided it's T1, not T2.

There's a T1 variant called LADA, latent autoimmune diabetes of adulthood, which is more or less T1 but has a much slower onset so can sometimes be confused with T2. From what you've said in this and your previous post, there's a possibility that the docs might be considering that.

Obviously none of us here know what your test results are going to show, but if it turns out to be T1/LADA, don't be too concerned about injecting insulin.

You've probably already figured out from your basal slow acting insulin that the injections aren't painful, so if you end up on fast acting bolus insulin too, they're just more of the same.

Well, kind of - a bit more thought needs to be given to the amounts for a particular meal, but devices called cgm, continuous glucose monitoring, makes it a lot easier to see what's happening and make those sort of decisions.

In many ways, if you turn out to be T1/LADA, fast acting insulin gives a great deal of control and opens up many food options. We can do some fairly sophisticated things with it, it's not something to be frightened of.

Thanks for all the reply’s. I have been keeping an eye on my readings today and they have all been in the lowing double figures not sure if that’s good or not. I can’t seem to get past 9oclock without falling asleep not good when I work 11-7am tues to fri. Will have to wait and see what dr says on Tuesday

Ouch ok just took my bloods this morning before breakfast was 13.1 took them just now and they have shot up to 23.6 I had 45g bran flakes and blueberries with milk and a coffee

Ouch! If I were in your shoes I'd thread lightly with the carbs till I get the result in 8 days time? Bran flakes and milk are quite carby. 23.6 is quite a high number. I was told to contact my endo team if mine ever got above 18, so maybe give your GP a call and let him/her know what's going on ...? Can the appointment be moved forward? This could be risky business for you.

See I haven’t been told anything I have a Drs appointment tomorrow as I want to do the low carb and coz I’m on insulin 8units at night I thought I’d better check. I have had no diet advice only to eat things in moderation

I'm glad to hear it's tomorrow, but I'd still give him/her a ring, just to make sure that it can wait till tomorrow, but I'm probably being more cautious with my advice to a stranger than I would be to myself. I have next to no experience with insulin, so please bear that in mind.
I see you have quite a few posts behind you, so I assume you must have come across dietary advice in here? I'm not surprised to hear the medics haven't given you any useful advice :banghead: Anything in moderation ...? What does that mean anyway?!

I’m going to call and see if any of my blood results are back yet from Monday last week at hospital they weren’t on Friday lunch time. Th lowest I have been since coming out is 10 so I don’t know what to do I’m afraid to eat to much in case I’m admitted again and my 10 year old son eats way more than I do I’m on 1000mg x 2 a day and then insulin I just seem to be spiralling out of control and I need to get it under control. How long do blood results usually take to come back

Well, I have the test done one week before my review. It's my impression that Denmark and England are quite similar where this is concerned (too).
Hugs to you, and do let us know how you're getting on, please.

I called Drs but again no test results back told to call hospital. Half hour later I’m still non the wiser they are going to email my consultant and get him to write or call with the results. I was hoping to have them for Drs appointment tomorrow but it doesn’t look likely. Just came back from shops and took my bloods again and I have hit 24 what is going on

Who did you speak to at the hospital, a ward clerk, or someone knowledgable about diabetes?
I may have got you confused with someone else, but weren't you admitted recently for DKA? Do you have a way of testing your ketones?

I was tested for key tones but not high enough for dka. I spoke to the consultants secretary

Did you tell him or her that you were worried about your high readings of 24?
I wish somebody else would come along, because I really don't know enough about dealing with the NHS - or, obviously, if waiting till tomorrow's consultation is safe.
How're you feeling?

No I didn’t as I didn’t know what the figure was then. I’m feeling fine just thirsty. I worried to eat anything in case it throws it even higher

Go for low/no carb foods. We can't have you starving too, can we? How about an omelet with cheese and bacon for supper? Or a pork chop? Have a little something, and see how you fare. If it does rise further I'd go to the A&E, or at least call an emergency number for advice.

I don’t want to be admitted again. I’m having roast chicken for dinner and I’m going to have a cheese scrambled egg before I get my son from school. I’m going to test my sugars again if still up I’ll call Drs/nurse for advice

Just roast chicken?
No potatoes, hopefully, although green vegetables are fine.
