Hi Everyone,
I know I should know this but I don't. I test my BG 2 hours after my evening meal. I'm a bit of a coffee addict and I love a cup about an hour after my meal - does that reset the timing of testing? Should I test two hours after my coffee - I have it with a splash of cream if that helps.
TIA for a dozy question.

Coffee with cream and no sugar doesn't reset the testing. However, you might try also testing one hour after a meal to catch the spike.

Black coffee has no more effect than water. I drink loads, a lot of it decaf I might add. Often with butter.

Thank you! I will try that too.
If you are testing after a meal it should be one or two hours from the first bite. If you have a long meal then maybe do two tests, one after first bite and the second after the last bite.

The standard is more than 90 minutes after food. Most of us do 2 hours. See Home page for glucose levels,
But I actually make some allowance for coffee as for me I do note a small rise in BSL from it.
Some of us seem to be more sensitive to the effect of caffeine on stimulating release of glucose stores by the liver.
Either that or I am over-caffeinating somehow!!
You could try testing at 2 hours and then an hour later and see whether there is any rise after the two hours or not !?
