It sounds like a fairy tale but it would since I can't even get test strips. Be interesting to see if anyone can get Libre.

I'm interested to see if any Type2's could get the libre. I've heard for Type1's to get the libre on prescription is to meet the criteria. Other than that, i'd say majority are self funding on the libres.

I’ve just got my freestyle back and I am type one... I told them straight. I was like I am sick of pricking my fingers and I like to be able to test my levels without being in pain.. why would anybody have to go through not having one when this technology is here and fir diabetics. Everyone should have one if it benefits them.

Libres doesn't replace finger pricking, some times the accurracy is questionable. We'll still need to do finger prick tests for low and high BG. Libre told me I was 13.5, i did a finger prick test and I was 9.2, could you have imagined if I corrected myself with novorapid when it was unnecessary.

@MrCuddlyMoses Sorry OP, I hope you were able to find some information on it. I know very very few type2s are on insulin pumps, I wouldn't lose too much hope for the libres.

As of this week I have my libre for free as the NHS policy has changed, so you can get it to just ask your GP

Does anyone know when the Freestyle Libre 2 will be available in the UK? Why was the Libre 2 launched in Germany rather than the UK? Does anyone know whether Abbott conducting at the moment UK trials of the Freestyle Libre 2? Thanks

Is it true that if you are type 2 and on insulin, that you can now get the freestyle libre on prescription???

A T2 neighbour of mine on MDI insulin told me her Endo has written to our mutual GP that she is to be prescribed the Libre. Apparently she's getting it because her BG is very uncontrolled and unpredictable (very low to 28 within a couple of hours) but, frankly, she doesn't make much effort to control it. She's said more than once that I'm mad to low-carb.

Spoke to Abbott's Diabetes Monday 29th of April and there are now plans for the release of libre 2 in the UK yet

Interesting... that's not what she told me but what you say makes more sense.

Could you give me a link to this information please - I know at least three other people that could do with continuous glucose monitoring. (With our village GP you have to show him that he has to do something rather than ask.)

This is the new rules of the NHS policy, but also she could be getting the libre to help her get better BG, also the hospital Diabetes specialist can also link the sensor and get the readings from it and check what is going on with her BG!

Thank you. I assumed the first generation of the product was launched initially in the UK. If it was, I don't understand why Libre 2 wasn't also trialled and launched in the UK first rather than Germany. Just wondered if Brexit might have anything to do with it. I have seen elsewhere in the forum someone was told Libre 2 may not launch in the UK until sometime in 2020, which seems very odd!

Happy New Year!

Is there still no update on when precisely the Freestyle Libre 2 will be available in the UK? Why is it taking so long for the product to be available in Britain?
