My step brother has recently has a cholesterol test (BUPA) but not told to fast!! Ate a curry at around 9 pm and had an apple at around 7am. Tests at 7.30 am.

Total cholesterol 5.3
LDL 3.72
HDL. 1.3
Total HDL ratio. 4.1
Trigs 0.6

When I put it into a calculator it says medium risk but HDL high risk.
My question is, is this a worthless test as it wasn’t fasted? Thanks.

You could well say that every cholesterol test is worthless!
Not sure what impact the apple would have had... fats usually raise the trig levels but his look ok anyway.
Which calculator are you using.. ? Does he follow any particular diet or does he have any conditions?

He has been reducing carbs slightly but certainly not low carb. No conditions. Thanks

Edited to add the high risk for hdl was on this calculator
Edited again to say it won’t post the other one but it was one from hughcalc.org
