Switching phones with Libre Freestyle

Hi,

I've been using Libre Freestyle for just over a month and this week I upgraded my phone. I'm not sure if I missed some trick but the phone app no longer shows the previous weeks of data that has been collected and sent to LibreView. I've also discovered that LibreView now doesn't show the previous phone's data in its glucose reports. Yet it does list my old phone and my new phone under devices.

It seems I've now lost a month's worth of useful data that I can no longer analyse.

Is this a failing from me switching or from Libre not taking people switching phonesinto account?

Thanks in advance.

The data for librelink app is on the phone. The new one wouldn't have that data of course. What you needed to was backup the app & data, I use ADB backup, and restore if to the be phone. Big late now I guess, as you'd lose want is on the new phone. The app is a bit thin in this area, no backup restore capability, no download of sync from libreview. A bit amateur.

As for libreview, if the new phone is uploading then both sets of data should be there. It stores data by device. The scanner will be shown separate from the phones which are also listed separately. In the reports you can view and select by device. Again I have no idea why this is so complicated. Caught me out too

Hi

Thanks for you reply.

I finally figured out how to see the data from my previous phone on the Glucose Reports. I needed to toggle the ability to view my current phone. Having both enabled will only show the current primary device (What great design in usability!).

I still don't see why they haven't designed it so that any phone that's currently the primary device will be able to download the last 90 days worth of data if required? It is after all sync'd up to their "Cloud" and so should be able to sync back down if you change phones or need to do a full reset.

Oh well.

Hi Barry, I came across your post. I am due to change my phone soon. I consequently downloaded ADB and ran the backup which looked as though it worked. Unfortunately, the resulting backup file only contained 40bytes. This seems to be a common occurrence when looking on forums. Have you experienced this yourself and if so how did you fix this? My current phone is using EMUI 9.1. Thanks for any help you can provide. Cheers

Hi, how did you manage to toggle the view, I don't want to start using my new phone until I'm definitely sure I can view my previous data.
Thanks in advance

Have you got any tips on doing this? I just ran a backup and restore of my librelink app using adb from old phone to new phone and it appeared to run successfully but none of old glucose or insulin is on new device.
Not sure if I have missed any steps.
I installed app initially on phone and then immediately ran the restore.

When you are about to get a new phone before you get rid of it on any app!! First thing is to connect it with the new phone to the old one and place on it the urgent apps first and start to sign in the apps on the new phone and transfer the data across phones and once done start deleting the old phone as it's done and when you open the apps on the new phone you should be able to do the same as the old phone without any problems as I did with my old Samsung phone to my iPhone 14 Pro Max and it didn't take me long to do just a hour or so and as I was doing each app I signed in and transferred the data across phones and once done I was able to make sure that I could use it and find out how it worked on the new phone before I went to the next app and done the same again and that was until everything was transferred and I was able to reset it and then sell it and be able to use the iPhone all the time and that's what I use now and a Apple watch and it works fine for me
