So what does a stable state of monitoring look like?

I’m measuring BG quite a bit at the moment, to understand what different foods will do, but once I know that for a particular food, is there any point continuing to measure before and after every meal?
What would you say is the basic long term strategy for ‘keeping an eye on things’ once I’ve figured out the good from bad in my diet?

If you can afford it, use at least one Freestyle Libre to investigate what your body is doing between finger prices and over night.

A note of caution; for some people the same meal on different days in different conditions can give different results.

If the same meal can affect people differently at different times and you can only test afterwards there would seem to be little point in testing! If you don’t actually learn anything that can be used longer term I mean.

I have thought about getting one of those Libre things as a one off, maybe it’s one for after my initial testing of everything. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have no idea if you are diabetic or not, but just my thoughts.

As was said, under different conditions. This could be, stress, illness, antibiotic use, a new medication, exercise before a meal etc. Anything that is different can change things. I think it is every reason to test. These can all impact in their own way.

There does come a certain predictability I find, that's when I think things become stable. All I can say is testing allows me to make decisions based on what the levels are. Measuring allows me to manage my health for the best possible outcome. Some measure more then others. How much you need to test I think you will discover over time and you will settle into your own strategy.

Hi,

Like @Tophat1900 says..

But I draw the analogy of driving a car without a speedometer? Think of your HbA1c result like an endorsment on your driving licence dropping through the door for not noticing the average "speed?"

There are personal BG trends that can be spotted on a daily basis. It's just a matter of getting accustomed to how..
