The number of toe, foot and leg amputations among diabetes patients in England was 27,465 from 2015 to 2018 - up 18.3 per cent from 2011 to 2014.
Diabetes UK said all hospitals should have a specialist foot care team to speed up care.

I for one appreciate my annual foot and eye review. They hv ket me safe for decades. However I'm prone to listening to the professionals. Especially those who see what starts the problems, in full colour. (Live). I never ignore their advice or thorough instructions. Even though I've had their advice nearly 20yrs. Suffering diabetes for more than double that.
Always listen and action their advice.... it works.

I must be lucky - I see my NHS podiatry clinic once every six months. I do get very good diabetic care from both GP and local hospital clinics.

Considering the problems I've had with my left leg and foot, Id be delighted if it was definitely amputated, no more problems

But I do have some kind of weird sore on my right side which i just noticed last night, is it possible to get a butt check amputation? Please say yes...weight loss goals are high here

I get decent foot checks, and could phone them for an emergency appt anytime I have a cut that won't heal.
But the person I posted about a while ago, who refused to try low carb and eats mainly high processed foods and sweets apart from bowlfuls of porridge has just had another toe amputated.
I know low carb can be hard - I still struggle with it, but I also struggle to understand why she won't get help with her diet and any issues around food.

No, but please do get it checked, cleaned, treated.

Get my feet checked annually after 40 years of type 1 and keep moving. Rather haunted by my father in law who has neuropathy after 20 years of type 2.
He was diagnosed mid 50s and eats 'healthily' i.e. no processed foods but fair quantity of carbs and some sugar. He's never really worried about his diabetes and never had terrible results hba1c wise, but obviously damage was accuulating below the surface, and took a quadruple bypass in his stride but not being able to walk without fear of stumbling is limiting his life including holiday plans.
A cruise would have been perfect and I suspect they will now be able to get a pretty cheap one mid Corona season.

I have had my feet checked at each annual appointment and when I see the consultant. My grandmother who was type 2, did have her foot amputated after a sore got gangrenous. She sadly died shortly after in hospital. They use amputation etc as a scare tactic, but for my poor grandmother it was a real side effect from poorly controlled and poorly managed diabetes. So I do find it worrying that there’s been an increase.
