Type 1 Any help please

I'm a type 1 diabetic and I have frozen shoulders can you get it also in the top of the legs and back because this is my kind of pain that I have been having for months now I had my left frozen shoulder about a year & half ago and it's gone into my right shoulder now but also getting similar pains in the top of my legs and lower back does anybody have these symptoms if so could you help me please thanks mike.

Welcome to the forums.

Can you elaborate on what type of pain you are experiencing? Does it feel like it's in the joints or is it muscle pain?

Have you spoken to doctors or had tests for inflammatory markers?

What meds are you on and are your levels under good control?

Its muscle pains no I haven't spoken to my doctor about inflammatory markers but I know that ibuprofen does help it a little bit, My meds are lantis and novorapid injections also metaformin 500mg twice a day and a weekly injection and my levels are not very good never have been since I was diagnosed in 2010 I have tried all kinds of painkillers but I find that only ibuprofen works a bit thanks.

Ok interesting. Myalgia (muscle pain) is a known side effect of Lantus (glargine based insulin). Have a look at your PIL. It doesn't affect many people, I think it's in the 1 in 10,000 category but of course it's impossible to say if this claim is accurate.

I put up with pain in the shoulders (mainly right side) for about a year, making it really difficult to stretch for anything.

When I changed from glargine (Abasaglar) to Levemir all my pains went away within a few days.

They do say that diabetics are more likely to suffer from frozen shoulder but the fact that you have leg pains points to systemic issues. it might be worth trying a different basal insulin if you can get a medical appointment.

Generally, I'd say try and talk to your medical team.

Thanks for the info urbanracer I'll look into this but what do you mean about having a look at your PIL? I don't know what that means lol but yeah thanks for the info.

PiL is a Patient Information Leaflet. Usually comes with all meds supplied in the UK.
