This is something that I have been thinking long and hard about.
Ozempic is described as an alternative to Metformin in the article linked here.
I seem to be fine with Metformin.
It is also described as an aid to losing weight.
I am normal BMI.
O.K. I would like to take off half a stone but losing weight is not the main aim of any drug for me.
It can kick your pancreas in an unfavourable way which is not an attractive proposition.
Oh, you don't say what you are currently taking or why you may need to move on.
My current view is that, as I seem to be mainly suffering from an extended dawn phenomenon, is that a small dose of insulin first thing in the morning might be the most sensible option.
I often go low in the early hours so I wouldn't want overnight insulin.
I don't want to have to inject, but if I did then one injection in the morning might be a reasonable way to go.
I also go low in the morning I just run high all day until pre bed I’m prescribed metformin
that’s what’s scary the pancreas issues it can cause especially inflammation
Yeah I read lots of threats before joining the forum but I read of someone having a heart attack 2 years later starting the medication just scary I don’t know what to do nextI do much the opposite.
I go high in the morning (sometimes very high) but go back down to normal after noon (or thereabouts) and can go low in the evening.
Have you considered other options?
You can take oral medication to make you wee out sugar.
I assume that you have done all you can on the eating front?
That is, no or very few carbohydrates.

On my eating I’m trying to maintain weight but I’m still consuming carbs maybe I need to rethink this
