Good evening ladies & gents, I wanted to query something with all of yous, I was diagnosed type 2 last March my hb1ac was 48

Since then I have managed it with metaformin diet and exercise, did a blood recently and it came as 44 I know that’s still pretty high I understand that’s pretty diabetic stage
My question is, is there a chance I am pre diabetic or I am still type 2 who’s doing a little better . I am speaking to my gp tomorrow but was just wondering what you lot thought

I would personally say, 48 or above is type 2 but on the boundary. Did you get a repeat and an official diagnosis?

44 is in the prediabetes range but that seems more like a type 2 heading towards remission and that’s good! Being levels down further is a good aim but you went over the boundary so still type 2

my opinion

Yes I was diagnosed by my gp after my first blood test

I was given two tests with both results being just over 60, to confirm my actual T2 diagnosis, and as 48 is barely diabetic, I think you ought to have been given a second test to confirm your status. And 44 is lower end of pre-diabetic, so in my non-medical opinion, I'd personally take such figures as more of a warning rather than a firm T2 diagnosis.
