Hi all,

I have been using the libre 1 since diagnosis as type 1. I was lucky enough to get it on my nhs prescription pretty much straight away. Anyway, its been great. I use it with a mio mio and glimp. So this means I dont have to scan, except once at the start, basically the data is sent via Bluetooth to my phone

Today at my diabetic nurse appointment I've been told from now on ill be getting the libre 2. She couldn't understand why I was not super excited about this.

Does anyone know if I will have to go back to scanning all the time or if there's a way to connect it via Bluetooth or some other mio mio type thing I could get ??

Many thanks as always

Yep, I know what you mean about the L2. But to my mind it has improved & less flakey than the predessor.
The L2 can tie in directly to an app called Diabox to act as a CGM set up with your phone. (I use Andoroid.)
Xdrip will work directly too. But you need a "OOP2 apk" as a patch for it.

Glimp, I haven't used in a long time. When i was using MiaoMiao2 I switched to xdrip.
(It was more reliable on the device I had at the time..)
Unfortunatly the new L2 algorithm gave me a bit of a headache with the MM2 & my stand alone watch.
I found a firmware update for the watch & use a Bubble mini with a firmware update on that too.

I recently got another phone & found Xdrip worked with less of a faff I was getting on the old device.
(I find "pre loved" devices not only cost effective. Give a "flagship" device enough time & the price drops dramatically. I also like to think I'm also "doing my bit" for the planet too?)
I had been using Diabox with no issue when the L2 was prescribed.. Previously, I had self funded. So had a choice with which version.

So, yeah. If see where you are coming from about not being too exited..
Initially, I was buzzing when I bought my first L2.. I don't feel the average DSN understands how we actually utilise this tech & adapt to our own particular lifestyle..

But there can be work arounds.

I am using xDrip+ and OOP2.
I was very pleased to get rid of my Miaomiao as the battery was fading - it needed charging every other day. Running a very small app on my phone (OOP2) is far far easier than sticking something to the sensor and remembering to charge it regularly.
I have a recent Pixel phone and found the instructions very easy to follow - they are available form the xDrip facebook group.

Thank you both for your replies. More sense out of you guys than the so called specialist nurse this morning.
Forgive me though, I'm quite a dinosaur when it comes to tech.
Am I correct in understanding from your replies

On my samsung s10 plus I can download diabox or xdrip (is oop2 apk some sort of additional app ? Not sure what a patch is?)
And this will connect to the libre 2
I won't need my miaomiao anymore
But I will still get that constant glucose reading via blue tooth. So I won't need to scan
All I need is to swap from glimp to xdrip ??

Thanks so much

Hi,

With the phone you have I'm confident you can consign your MM to the drawer..
I only use a BT bridge to run my watch in parallel to my phone.

So, with your device.
If you chose Diabox which can be found in the Android App Store.. (Free.) that's all you need..
I found this pretty easy with nice little widgets on the home screen giving the current BG status.
Can be found here.
https://www.bubblan.org/apkplz/

If you go for XDrip, (also kindly a free trusted app.) you would need to pick it up from the GitHub developers site. Along with the additional OOP2 apk.
There is support setting it up on FB along with relivant links to where you can find the various builds.?
This may possibly help with xDrip. To point you in the right direction..
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mi...to-use-a-native-bluetooth-connection-in-xdrip

Then you will have a CGM set up just using the L2.

Thank you so much !!! Such a relief to know I don't need to go back to scanning. Also the miaomiao has Probably had its day

From your message I'll most likely go for the easiest and simplist option, the diabox.

Once more you guys on this forum are miles ahead in knowledge to the medics, so called specialists at the hospital. Thank you so much for taking time out to help.

If you are using your phone to read this topic? The Bubblan link a previously gave you should take you there to download. You may get a warning as a safety protocol on your phone?
Just download & install anyway..
There is an option to calibrate if needed. But you will need the code "GODMODE" to set that up.. yeah I know.. like a "games cheat."

You will also find the option for a "widget" on the home screen in your phone widgets set up.
Nice feature. No need to open the app to view your BGs..

This may also help.. https://bgonmywatch.com/1a-diabox-with-and-without-the-bubble-for-the-nontechies/

Happy to help (although I see @Jaylee has pointed you in the right direction).
I think specialist nurses are unable to advise on things like Glimp, xDrip, Diabox, ... because they are unofficial so they have to be careful.
But anyone who is willing to try out unofficial tech like MiaoMiao is not a dinosaur.

Good luck with your Libre 2. I hope you enjoy being released from your miaomiao.
