C peptide is a proxy for insulin levels and is often used to differentiate type 1 from type 2 but it seems there's different types of type 1s too. All about variability in c peptide levels dependent on age at diagnosis and duration of diagnosis. Doesn't seem to be selling anything since sadly there's no way to reverse beta cell death that causes insulin not to be produced, but interesting that age of diagnosis makes a difference.

Not in the habit of getting c-peptide tests but I can say after 30 years with the condition (roughly) there was a sudden massive difficulty spike in keeping levels under control, with every little thing bothering me in a way it never had before. Coupled with this, I found the immediate effects of having higher than target Blood Sugar became much more pronounced.

Basically, I could do roughly 80% in range without any real effort in the first 30 years but all of a sudden it to gargantuan effort just to hit 70%.

Similar issue Stew. I put it down to changing to the insulin pump at first but then a few months on I was thinking why on earth am I finding this so difficult! Due to my age now thinking its menopause (obviously not your case!!!) Started HRT and hoping this helps but this article @NicoleC1971 has also gave me something else to think about.......

Yeah, my issues were actually what prompted my Doctors to really push for getting me on the Pump. The Pump has certainly helped as well, but it's taken me longer to get into a good equilibrium with it, because of the extra variables I had to learn how to control.

Ditto! I laugh when I remember "after a month it'll be a breeze" ehhhhhhh? Gotta smile at the optimism, lol.
