Advice on new diagnosis of prediabetes - hypos

Hi

I have recently been told by the GP that I have prediabetes, not surprised as I began to have nerve issues. Anyway my hba1c was 42. Just to add I am in my late 20s so was mortified.

I have since cut out all carbs. No bread, rice, sugar etc.

Just been eating protein and fibre.

However I have been recently been checking my blood sugar and this is what comes up:

Before a meal: 4.6
2 hours post prandial: 4.8

Today upon waking and I guess technically fasting for around 16 hours my blood sugar is 3.7

I am a bit worried that I am putting myself in a hypoglycemic state without realising.
At the same time I am worried about eating carbs because of the prediabetes diagnosis?

What should I do? I feel I have gotten a bit extreme with my regime

Are you on any medication which may affect your blood glucose ? if not then fasting readings in the high 3s are likely to be OK. If you are on blood lowering medication the dose may need to be adjusted.

If you are no meds then numbers are fine, my hubby not diabetic but eats keto often has numbers like those, if he does feel a bit wobbly because every day is different he eats a low carb cracker 2.5g carb with a small amount of cheese and it sorts him out. You seem to be doing all the right things, well done in getting to grips with it.
