Ah thank you that would make sense and yes newly diagnosed and coming down from higher numbers. I’ll cancel my eye test.I don’t think there is any, there is quite a few side effects but never heard of eyesight being one of them. What makes you think it’s a side effect of metformin? Are you having problems with your eyesight and is metformin a new drug for you?
If you are newly diagnosed and have been running higher numbers which are now coming down with diet and meds then you will experience temporary changes in your eyesight, high sugars affect your eyes and as you reduce your blood sugars then they return to normal. It’s nothing to worry about and lots experience it. They advice not to get tested for glasses for a few months after a diagnosis and treatment as our eyes change
Ah luckily not experienced that but just determination of vision to the point of blurred at 10ft or more.I spent too much time running for the loo when on it I never noticed any eyesight side effects.. what are you seeing? (pardon the pun).
Your regular eyetest for prescription glasses or the diabetic eye test?I’ll cancel my eye test.
Which doesn't really apply in a newly diagnosed who just started metformin.A quick google search
Blurry vision is a common side effect associated with a prolonged use of Metformin. This happens due to a deficiency of Vitamin B12 as Metformin is known to affect its absorption
Oh.. i didn't know OP just started on metformin.Which doesn't really apply in a newly diagnosed who just started metformin.
Getting your B12 checked when having been on metformin for a while is always a good idea though!
it is almost certain to be the changes you have made to your diet that has caused the changes to your vision.newly diagnosed and coming down from higher numbers
