Tresiba and time for it to work

Hi
I recently started on Tresiba and was wondering if it has a time when it kicks in after injection. I used to be on Lantus and knew every night 3 hours after injection it would bring my BG down initially a bit then it would slow down. I was wondering if Tresiba had similar characteristics or other things I should be aware of.

It doesn't have that 'kick in' for me, unlike the Lantus I used before Tresiba.

The Tresiba for me is very steady, even though I vary the time I take it depending on when I go to sleep. (Anywhere between 10:30PM and 5:30AM.)
I see no difference in my Libre graphs at all.

Thats great. I am hoping it turns out that way for me. Today is the 2nd day in and am still waiting to learn the intricacies. Will probably be up all night checking. Those 5AM bed times are a thing of the past for me !

Do you ever see issues when your BG is 6.5 and you take your Tresiba you experience a low ?

No. The Tresiba doesn't affect BG right away. If I experience a low after taking my Tresiba it's due to my last dose of mealtime insulin, or possibly because of increased activity or my period coming up (I usually need less insulin right before). In other words, coincidence, such a low would have happened if I took the Tresiba 4 hours later as well.

Completely unlike the Lantus which tried to kill me once with a Lantus Low. That's when I switched to Tresiba.

I know exactly what your talking about with Lantus. Ended up in the Emergency room , BG 42. Thats why I get a little nervous I guess. I really appreciate your input and this site. Thank you.

Tresiba cannot do this because it works completely different from Lantus.
Tresiba can make you hypo of course, if the dose is too high, but it cannot act like an ultra fast acting insulin like Lantus can when hitting a capillary.
 
Do you take your Tresiba at night then? I was told to take it in the morning. I am not aware of any effect at all from it, by the way. But then, Lantus never brought my BG down either.

Yes, I take it before going to sleep, the best time for me but only because that's the most likely time I won't forget to take it.

It can be taken at any time of the day depending on personal preference.

I think, then, that I'll try to edge it to earlier morning, then very early, then late at night, to see if it makes any difference.

I take the Tresiba at 1:30PM, and am so impressed with how steady it is. I had a few lows on Lantus. I was told it is because it peaks at a certain point and only lasts 14 hours or so.
