Ridiculous difference between my device and lab tests

Hello,

I was suspecting that my readings from a Contour Next were too high compared to typical lab results.

Quick history, diagnosed T2 in early January 2023, got a surprise 11.4 in blood sugars and A1C even worse at 10.5 / IFCC 91, with estimated average of 14.1 mmol/L. A radical dietary change followed (no meds). Progress (samples every Saturday since):

I went to the lab yesterday, took my own machine and asked the nurse to let me use a drop from the vein to compare lab results to my device. She agreed to let me use a spill from when she pulled out the needle from the vein, to get a quick sample into my machine before she applied pressure to the vein as usual.

And using the same blood from the vein showed these results:

Contour Next: 6.7 mmol/L
Laboratory: 4.8 mmol/L

I was suspecting the device (new one with first batch of strips). I'm new to diabetes too... Manufacturer claims 98% of readings will fall within +/- 0.6mmol/L, compared to lab and 100% will fall into +/- 0.8 mmol/L, but this was 1.9mmol/L.

This is my chart of my 28 readings from Contour Next (RED dots mean morning /fasting):

So I am looking for answers, I was trying to learn patterns to regulate my diet, which according to LAb is going awesome (with strict diet). But judging from the chart above, I could have been on the hypo side if we discount the 1.8 mmol difference (just 1 time I know). What should I make of this?

Note, I have lost 16 Kgs in 2 months, diet keto style (max 1200 calories a day), 2 meals a day, less than 10 grams of net carbs a day.

Firstly well done on the changes you have made
Secondly (and I am not an expert on this!) I think the blood glucose monitors we use are designed to be used with Capilliary Blood rather than veinous blood. I think it may be worth looking into that for your meter to see if that could be having an impact on the difference

Contour next can be used with venous blood
