Trouble injecting

Hi all, I have been given insulin kwik pens recently after about 19yrs of tablets my problem is that because I am classed as a "skinny diabetic" I am struggling to find the perfect injection site. All the usual sites recommended don't work for me as I have no excess fat under my skin I usually end up with small white bumps where the insulin collects or a slight bleed. I have mentioned this to my medical team but am getting no help from them. Does anyone have any advice as to where I can try?

thanks for reading

Dawn

If you have already tried your tummy, thighs, upper arms and but, then I'm not sure where else. Do you pinch when you inject? I'm very thin and I pinch which helps bunch up any flesh under the skin. Also, do you measure your blood sugar before injection and then 2 hours after eating the first bite subsequent to the injection? That would tell you if the insulin is getting out there and working. Then I would measure an hour after that to see if the insulin is taking longer to distribute.

Hi Dawn,

Following on from the advice of JAT1, I too am skinny with very little fat, only my inner thighs can I find some, but also like JAT1 I pinch my skin, but also rub it vigorously for 10 seconds first to get blood warmed up under the skin and circulating and again for 10 to 20 seconds after to get it absorbed quicker. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks

Hi,
I am always monitoring my sugars and the insulin is working it is just the pain as the insulin is injected into the area. I do pinch but I am also using a TickleFlex which pinches the skin for you. Thank you for your reply
