Best non-official Libre2 Android app?

What are my options?

Back when I was using the Libre 1, I got on well with Xdrip+, sometimes with a bluCon bridge, though that was never very reliable.

When I got switched to the Libre2 I decided to give the official Abbott app another go, as it was easy and at least gave me alarms now.
However, I've been finding it not great.
The lack of control of alarms is a pain - for example, I'm about to sleep and am a tiny bit over my upper limit, the alarm goes off, but I see it looks like it's going back down, so I go to sleep. If instead of going down it actually climbs much higher, there's no more alarm (something xDrip+ does much better).
I've also never liked the amount of extrapolation the official app does, I want to be able to see clearly what is real data and what is predicted.
Finally, I know the readings are being sent constantly, so it seems ridiculous to only use this for alarms and still have to nfc scan for regular readings, since I understand other apps could simply display the readings from bluetooth.

I'm okay with installing apks but looking for something that isn't a huge fuss to set up.

Thanks - that does look good.
Do you keep only Diabox running and start sensors with it, or use it in combination with LibreLink?

I was happy with xDrip+ with OOP2 Libre 2.
The advantage over other apps is that you have experience of xDrip+ and all you are doing is swapping Bluecon for the OOP2 app.

I couldn’t tell you if it is the best option as it was the only one I tried with Libre 2 apart from LobreLink which was shoddy.

Thanks. I need to read through the setup for OOP2.
So far I started Diabox and it works for NFC readings no problem, but I haven't managed to get it to receive bluetooth readings yet.

I use Juggluco alongside LL. Juggluco shows a real time value and a raw data graph (and a smoothed one like LL). Alarms are good, with customisable repeats if you stay out of range.

A plus point and a risk, is that it is developed by a single guy in Holland. The good: he is very responsive to emails and fixes. The downside: he could get run over! The source is in the public domain FWIW.

Worth a try for sure.

Hi @Westley ,

I used to use xDrip with the libre 1 & Miaomiao bridge.
I use Diabox for the CGM experience now. I found xDrip to over engineered for the L2.

I still use the librelink app to scan for nursey.. (I just don’t bother with any of the notifications on it.)

Thank you all. After some restarting and cache clearing I got Diabox working with Bluetooth and so far am loving it!
Having minute-by-minute readings right there on the lock screen and status bar without even having to open the app is great.
I started my new sensor with the reader device, but uninstalled LibreLink from my phone, as I guessed having both running might cause issues.
I'm not sure which method I'll use to share the data with the doctor at my next checkup, but it looks like there are plenty of options.

I start my sensors with the reader (I like to use it in the pool) but keep LibreLink and DiaBox running simultaneously on my phone. Not to share with my doctor (I don't share, she can look at the data when I'm there if she wants) but because I like the graphs and notes I can add in LibreView for finding patterns.

If you drive, there is a very nice trick to keep an eye on your BG without the need to touch your phone:
Add the DiaBox widget to the home screen of your phone at the top or bottom of your screen. Now open Maps in a pop up screen and add your route.
Maps will prevent the screen from goung black and your BG will show nicely above your route.

I originally downloaded DiaBox because of the calibration function but apart from calibrating, keeping an eye on my BG while driving has proven to be the most useful feature!

That's a nice tip, thanks.
When running both LibreLink and Diabox, I presume you turn off all alarms in LL and just scan with it at least once every 8 hrs to get the graphs?
Do you turn off bluetooth and notification permissions for LL too?

I guess so, but I don't remember exactly what settings I changed for LibreLink to use DiaBox, it's quite a long time ago.
Starting the sensor with the reader already disables alarms for the app.

And yes, I scan at least every 8 hours (waking, before sleeping, and any time I want to inject insulin so I can add my dose to the notes. So no hassle trying to remember, I definitely inject more often than every 8 hours during waking hours.

If you have trouble finding the right settings I can recommend the DiaBox Facebook page for questions. Or find them on Instagram (I don't do Instagram but I think that's where they share all the latest updates.

Like @Antje77 , I run Diabox with librelink on my phone. But turn off all the LL notifications.

I also keep the Diabox notification panel on the lock screen as well as home screen widget.
I have a split screen feature so I can use Diabox & satnav in tandem.
Or if the device is just on charge. Tap the screen to show lock with the levels & time.

I just looked go to apps on your device open librelink block notifications. And it looks like I stopped “permissions” too?
