Hi to everybody
So i was diagnosed 12 months ago with type 2 and at that time. My weight was 22, and hafe Stone and my HbA1c was at 109 for the first 8 months I didn't understand diabetes.. just thought take this medication 'metformin' of the doctor and it will go away I was still eating same old **** only cut out fizzy drinks and sugar in my brews and Cereal. 12 months on I have lost just over 10stone. Its only the last 3/4 months I am getting to understand it all with eating healthy and low carbs..ect
When to see the diabetic specialist at the start of this month at Manchester Royal they just started me on insulin only 4 units in the morning as a back ground insulin they said. And my HbA1c reading was 53 so has come down quite abit so fingers crossed next reading it's where we want it to be.

Be nice to hear your stories how yous are getting on with type 2.

Hopefully low carb is the way forward, although you'll need to be careful with insulin and dropping carbs.

good luck

Am still eating carbs just not as many like afew years ago I would eat a big plates of Pasta Bolognese or bacon spuds and cabbage or big Chinese takeways

If your diabetes is 'progressing' that suggests you may still be eating too many carbs for your body to cope with.

Hi Martyk,
A very warm welcome
You have accomplished so much
I was diagnosed last summer.
T2 on Trulicity but moving to Ozempic in May. Never been on metformin.
My sister was just diagnosed with T2 and is starting on metformin. I have no words of wisdom when it comes to metformin or insulin unfortunately.
But just wanted to say keep up the amazing work.

Hi, I have no words of wisdom to add as I’m new to all this myself. My A1c was 42 when last tested, and as I haven’t as yet had two results within the prediabetic range I’m hoping I can do enough to hold it off.

I just wanted to say a huge well done to you for all you have achieved over the last 12 months. Knowledge and the drive to act on it are key and you are certainly doing that! Keep up the great work.

@Martyk_86 - congratulations on your progress in the last 12 months!
