Protein bars.

What sweetener do they use? Most use maltitol which spikes many of us just as high as sugar does. Each sugar alcohol or artificial sweetener used has its own profile. Some better some worse and some quite dependent on the individual. (Maltitol is worse than sugar for me and I’ve just discovered a horrible digestive reaction to even small amounts of sorbitol via a medication for example, whereas erythritol and xylitol are fine).

The you have to decide how you feel about the UPF chemical concoction that these bars are. I won’t lie I have eaten them but am very selective which ones and make it a rare thing not a daily thing.

FWIW. I was in H&B looking at ways of increasing my protein intake but low carb. I asked the manager about this, and which was the bar he would recommend. He said "None of them" would be suitable for someone with T2D, even low carbers. These products are aimed at athletes, distance walkers, and body builders. they are basically chemicals wrapped in guineapig food.

Fibre One bars are shown as 18% csrbohydrate, of with sugars 4%. So not exactly keto friendly, but could be handled by T2D on medication, I suppose.

Perhaps you could give details of any meds that may be assisting you get that result, I see from other posts that you are not exactly running on Low Carb fuel (grapes, iced bakewell, protein bars) and your profile shows Tablets for control. it would help us to provide relevant assistance to your question if we knew.

Keep Calm & Carry On. You are probably able to have these as you have tested and demonstrated. If it is a regular item then it may lead to carb creep. But its effect is similar to a slice of low carb toast. It will kick you out of ketosis if you try to go that route. But I suspect that is not on your current to do list.
