Hi - weird feeling yesterday, diagnosed around 2 months ago, felt a little dizzy nothing serious nothing to over whelming @9:30pm . I had last eaten 5pm and excercised inbetween too, Anyways checked my levels, 4.8, first time I've seen the 4s since diagnosis. Anyway I just went to sleep at 10pm and checked my fast levels this morning 6.0.

So the experts here please explain as a T2 can I get a hypo? I think its just my body adjusting to lower levels of Glucose and HBAC1c was 82 back in March.

Insulin
T2 without any blood glucose lowering medication can’t really get hypos. And at 4.8, even with someone taking insulin, this wouldn’t be a hypo either.

Below 4 mmol/l is generally considered a hypo for those taking blood glucose lowering medication. Although, I like to be a little higher than (higher than 4-5) this going to bed to prevent overnight hypos but I’m taking insulin.

What more than likely happened is a ‘false hypo’ - basically just your body is used to operating at a much higher sugar level and it throws a bit of a fit when it was lower than it’s used to.

As a non medicated diabetic, more 4s and 5s you can achieve, the better.

Thanks guys, exactly what I thought false Hypo etc..

Sometimes in the week I take Apple Cider Vinegar, it defiitly lowers my levels. Not sure how it does this, anyone else use this? I hope I get more 4s, been exactly 2 weeks since diagnosis now so I am hoping it goes lower...

Yes happened to me quite a few times in the beginning. I had gone from high levels down to the 5s and felt pants. Body just wasn't used to it and I felt terribly woozy almost to the point of feeling drunk! Thankfully didn't last too long .

Hi - so every other day, not daily I will take ACV at night mixed in with water, I would say two table spoons

During those nights i can hear grumbling and rumbling in the stomach liek something is happening and the morninngs always low in the 5s and early 6s on fast

Okay, thanks for that. I have started taking 1 tbsp during the day, split the dose so I can have it with green tea and the other half I will probably take at night with water. Love experimenting to see if things work in reducing BG

I think my last hba1c was 53 I think cannot remember and DN expected it to continue down for the next time. It takes a while. The DP is always the last to come down which is why I thought about taking the ACV. I am in the 5.4 -6.00 region during the day, but I think upping my exercise really helps my levels plus I enjoy it.

You on medication? I am on diet only, does that mean I can get a Hypo?

Another question related to this, but is a good/normalish low - 4 to 4.5?

My understanding is that if you are not treating diabets with medication, a hypo is anything under 3.5.
Coincidentally, my partner went for a tough cycle ride recently and had to have a break because he felt "wobbly".
I took his BG - 2.9. Now that is a hypo.
He does not have diabetes and takes no medication.

Yes I'm only on once a week injection for medication for Type 2 Diabetes.

The hypo happened - when I woke up in early morning from night sleep. Had symptoms of hypo - headaches, sweat, shake etc so I checked my glucose 3.5 mmol had to get up and drink 1/2 of can of normal regular sprite to bring up my glucose up. (I keep 8 pack of mini cans of sprite in fridge for Hypo emergency, and carry fast acting glucose tablets in my bag when I go out.)

Because in Australia - state laws, cannot drive a car if glucose is below 5 mmol. Have to be above 5 mmol.

It is unusual but not unheard of in certain circumstances. with T2.
The meds thing is important, and if you are on meds, a single episode, is nothing to worry about.

However, if the hypos (under 3.5) episodes continue, then there must be a reason.
That is why there is a varied types of conditions under the hypoglycaemic diagnosis.

Hypos occur in many conditions.

I’m astonished that in Australia you aren’t allowed to drive if BG is below 5mmol. Is that just for diabetics or for everyone?
