Can anyone tell me the answer to this?
I have LibreLink installed on 3 different phones (all Samsung) and none of them display the blue button (as shown in the manual) to "Start New Sensor".
Does this button only show AFTER the sensor has been applied?

It shows after you hold your phone to the sensor to scan it!

And nice to see you here. :)
Thanks - but I tried to hold the phone up to the sensor (not applied to my arm) just holding it in my hand but it looks dead.
So does applying it to the arm, ejecting it from the applicator, activate it somehow?

I have never tried to activate a new sensor before applying so I'm not sure. But with the sensor being in the inserter thing still I doubt I'd be able to get my phone close enough to scan it anyway.

Why are you trying?

Because I did a course over Zoom with the hospital after they gave me a Libre 2 to try but I was the only one that the App' wasn't working for. But I don't know if the sensor has to be applied for the App' to work. If I apply the sensor and it still doesn't work (becuase it's the App or my phones) then I've wasted a sensor.

If that did happen you could call Abbott for help. They would be able to solve the problem or send you a replacement. Good luck.

Thanks but already tried that, they couldn't sort it out.

You should have a screen which shows scan like this but without the graph above. When you scan the sensor it then asks if you want to start the new sensor.

Does your phone have NFC?

Do I understand correctly that this sensor is a replacement sensor Abbott sent you for the one you didn't get to work at the zoom session?

Hi Urb, great to see you online..

From what I can make out, the sensor is pretty much switched on when the two sides are rammed together, then applied. I could be wrong.. it just makes sense to me looking at the “bits” before priming the sensor for planting on site of choice..?

I could be wrong, but the filament that gets “hole punched” into the interstitial layer to my eye completes the “circuit.”

I need to wait another week before I can check this out again to be certain..

I’ve only ever activated a sensor when planted. & ready for a change over from the last expired sensor..

The sensor must be applied to work.
As well as “punching” the filament into your arm, it also makes a contact with the battery.
Think of the kids toys that (used to) come with a battery but you had to remove a tape or ribbon to make the contact with the toy and battery. The application of the sensor will “pull that ribbon” in the sensor.
So, before applying it, the sensor, the battery is not making contact so there is no power to the sensor to ”talk to your phone”.

Hi @Jaylee and @In Response

Thanks for your responses. Just for clarity, my concern is a difference between the user manual and what my phone(s) actually display.

The image on the right is from the user instructions. The image on the left is a screenshot of my phone. As you can see, the "SCAN NEW SENSOR" button is not just greyed out on my phone, it's completely missing. So I'm just concerned that the app may not be working properly and I'm reluctant to put the sensor on.

I am a bit confused by the screenshot on the left as it doesn’t look like my home page. Apologies if I’m misunderstanding but what happens if you click on the three lines top left to drop down tge menu and select home?

No not quite. I used to use Libre 1 and then because of skin rashes I stopped. Now the Endo' wants me try Libre 2 and has given me a sensor and the on-line (Zoom) training session. I got the App from Google play but it doesn't look like the user manual.

I suspect when it shows the yellow banner saying 'Scan new Sensor' it is just expecting you to scan the sensor right then without needing to press anything else.

Obviously if you haven't applied it this wont work though

Also note, I last used the libre about 2.5 years ago (I got changed to a different one) so don't have any recent experience of the app, so this is only what I suspect and makes sense to me.
Also sometimes user manuals do have to taken with a 'pinch of salt', especially if the app has been updated since the manual was written

Is this all you have seen since you downloaded the app? I’m wondering if it is just info for a new user. Try clicking next, then maybe next again until you get a home page?

Ah, I see what you mean. I usually scan the new sensor with that screen to start the hour warm up.
Then do the same for the sensor’s BT with the third party CGM app.

Lol, I get so used to doing it I can’t remember half the blurb on the screen.

There is no button on the app because you do not need to press a button to scan: you just need to scan the sensor via NFC.
My app looks exactly the same (but I don't have a Libre to scan).

I don't think it is possible to check if the sensor is working until it has been applied (and the battery connection made).
I am confused what you are trying to do before applying the sensor.
