Hello All

I am interested in getting a Ketone Meter.
Are they available on the NHS for diabetics?

Thanks

John

Hi @jclegg73 , I think they would only be available on the NHS for T1's with a high risk of ketoacidosis, which can get very dangerous very quickly.

Testing to see if a keto diet has put you in ketosis won't change your treatment in any way. So while it can be interesting to see if you are, I can't imagine a GP or diabetes nurse wanting you to test.

Hi I’m a t2 diabetic I was given a blood glucose meter with a ketone meter built in. But the doctors are very reluctant to give testing strips I’ve only had one lot and I’ve had the meter since mid covid.
