Hi, does anyone have any ideas at why all of a sudden for the past 3 weeks or so my blood sugars are rising at night, even when I don’t eat?? Thanks

How long have you been diagnosed?
For me, the amount of insulin I need isn't static, and it was even less so in the first few years after diagnosis.

Do you use fingerpricks or a sensor, do you know if you suddenly rise in the morning or is it more of a steady rise throughout the night?

I was diagnosed about 4 years ago roughly. I don’t finger prick much anymore, I’m using the Libre 3 sensor, and as for the rise for example, I woke up earlier and it was just a case of a quick rise, not a steady rise, just rising fast, then levels out so to speak, drops a little then rises again, in the past I’ve had to inject 15-20 units of fiasp just to bring it down under 8 from say 14. It’s all very confusing

Also I’ve injected 8 units and it’s doesn’t of seem to of done much. Just hovering between 10 and 11 mmol

Quick update on the correctional injection of 8units…. It took the BS down to 9.8 and now back up to 10.1 and so far just staying at 10.1. So have now added another 10 units to see what happens with that.

10.1 isn't that high in my books but I personally don't think you can just keep injecting more and more insulin to correct it. Is your meter working?

Is 18 units of insulin as a correction normal for you? What type of insulin? If it was me I'd be calling someone

No, normally it would be a few units at most, say 2-3 units, but lately, I’d say the last 3-4 weeks I’ve done that amount 3-4 times maybe

I’m using the Libre 3 sensor and have finger pricked 4 days ago to compare and it wasn’t that much out compared to sensor

Just woken to feed the baby and my bloods have been brought down to 4.9 with the units taken earlier, still confused as to why it’s taken all that to bring them down ??
