Type of diabetes
Prefer not to say
Treatment type
I do not have diabetes
Had serve acute pancreatitis with cyst with gallstones during pregnancy and lost a bit of my pancreas 24 years ago and was diagnosed 14 years ago with chronic pancreatitis

Just waiting on fasting bloods and A1C and other bloods to come back as they thing I’m now diabetic

After eating my blood sugars are going up to 18mmol and taking over 3 hours to come back down but still high and run high all day

What the likelihood that diabetes is starting? I’m so scared.

Hi @LWC14 , welcome to the forum.
We can't diagnose here, but it looks like you already know your numbers are outside the normal range, assuming your glucose meter is reading correctly.
Are your teststrips still in date?

Please try to be less scared if possible. I've had T1 for 7 years now, and like many others I find it's annoying at times, but it doesn't really bother me.
'Knowledge is power' is very true with diabetes, so if it turns out you get a diagnosis, why not learn as much as you can so you can deal with it in a way that suits you best. ;)

Thanks for the welcome,
Was hoping this wouldn’t come cause a got this far. Knowing for months there was something going on but just refused to go and see my GP, my doctor was lovely and wasn’t happy a held it all back but not one for complaining and suffer with my pancreas when a should go to hospital. Yeah meter is new and so is the test strips, how long does it take for these blood results to come back?

Most usually show on line in 2-3 days in UK. If there's more than just hba1c they may come back at different times

Yeah had other bloods taking for my pancreas and other things which normally take 7 days but hopefully the fasting test & hba1c come back first. Thank you for helping

Getting a diabetes diagnosis can be a bit of a shock, and it takes time getting used to the idea of having a chronic illness.
So by all means cry, and grieve, and then try to pick yourself up and start learning how to deal with it.
For many of us, having diabetes means we need to take care of it, but this is done as just another part of our life without affecting the other parts too much. :)

The good thing now you have your diagnosis is that you'll get treatment, and you'll likely feel much better when your blood glucose gets to lower levels again!
I had no idea how rubbish I had been feeling from high BG until my numbers came down, hopefully it will be the same for you.

Do you know what kind of treatment will be started?

Thank you, just so tired and the headache are driving me mad and always over heating.

My husband is a type1 so have great knowledge as he’s nearly blind so help him.

A was hoping it was all in my head and as a said after 24 years it would have by passed me and a would be lucky. But time to accept it and take good care of myself now.

Thank you for the chat you made my day and picked me up. ️x
